Guest yoos Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 OK, I was so upset with my Voyager joystick not working right that I took my phone apart to see if I could notice anything on the inside that could be done to help with this problem.... After putting the phone back together I am now not getting any audio from the speaker! Any ideas? Thanks!!
Guest squall Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 THe speaker fits upside down so you prob just didnt put it in correctly
Guest yoos Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 ok... I didn't take the speaker out, but.... in my frustration of the joystick not working and being tired at 3am I didn't pay much attention that the upper right corner of the phone was still attached a bit when I tried to take it out of the case, so... I broke the upper right of the printed circuit board that goes around the upper right screw. You can see in the pictures attached.... Think this is what did it??? Any ideas on how to fix it??from top close.jpgfrom top side.jpgpic from top.jpg

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Looks like you have a broken track, as dicussed on IRC try and remake the track with soldering a piece of wire onto the track.
Guest yoos Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 luckily I won't have to try to do that now!! After taking it apart and putting it back together again it appears to be working.... Maybe I just have the broken pieces connected better?? I'm just going to leave it for now and see what happens.... Thanks!
Guest yoos Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 oh yea, and I cleaned the connector leads for the speaker as awarner suggested, so maybe that had something to do with it too???
Guest olly_k Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Very lucky there mate  looks like no tracks are broken the copper at the edge just looks like part of the screening or common ground maybe, which is still intact anyway. What is more likely is that the board was not be pinned down as effectivly, meaning the board may not have been sitting against speaker connections properly. Greasy fingers can also leave deposits on contacts so you should make it a habbit of cleaning all contacts after pulling apart. if you had hit a track that was on an internal board layer you would have been completely stuffed!!! This is a lesson for people trying to pull there phone apart at 3 in the morning I guess
