This could be good news. (taken from http://www.grandtheftendo.com/ by Brian Provinciano )

Grand Theftendo is a remake of Grand Theft Auto III for the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It is Grand Theft Auto III running on an 8 bit, 256x240 resolution, 2 bit colour x 2 bit palette, 1.79 Mhz system, written entirely in 6502 Assembly Language! It includes the entire Portland city!

Purely a project of my spare time, it has progressed very nicely. I had kept the development of it quiet until the very end of October 2004, in which GTA: San Andreas, and more importantly, GTA: Advance was released. After the release of GTA: Advance, a top down take on Liberty City, I decided there was no better time to show the world my efforts. It will still be a little while before it's finished, but enough is done that it has something to show for itself.

Here you will find information on the game, it's history, and how it is being developed. From the paper to the PC, to the NES, it's come a long way since it began. Read further for all of the details!

Im taking it that when he says download it means as a .nes rom gonna email him to find out. In the meantime check the official site http://www.grandtheftendo.com/

and

and read for yourself

Looks awesome.

Just reading about all the work put into it! You're a very clever guy!

So, when this is released will it be freeware? And then we can get some kind of NES emulator for our smartphones and play it on them? 8)

Yup, looks good... A little too good, if you ask me.

Let's hope that this doesn't turn out to be a stinker like CNU's "Sack of Flour, Heart of Gold," though...

Nah, cancel that... Looked at his other pages, this guy definitely knows his stuff. Talented man, I tell ya.

I heard about this about a month ago... He has said that once completed, the game will be released at no charge.

Just to clarify, the game is being developed by Brian Provinciano, not one of our members! ^_^

Hey, very nice! You did an awesome amount of work, writing your own assembler, copmiler, map editor, and game all by yourself! Its incredible... I have written games for the Z80 processor (in the TI-83) in assembly, but I guess thats nothing compared to you.

I'm one of the administrators of the forum of Maxcoderz(www.maxcoderz.com), a group that writes games for the ti-83(+). One of our members opened a topic about the Game King with a link to your website. The Game King is one of the few devices with an even crappier screen than the ti83(+): an even lower res, but with 4-level grayscale ^_^

By the way, are you aware of any European/American Game King resellers? I want one!
