BlueTooth ON / DISCOVERABLE

I have a C500 (LOVE IT)

Just wondering if anyone can tell me why we have to change the BT setting from 'ON' to 'DISCOVERABLE' everytime you want to send / receive something? Does anyone else find it a bit of a ballache? I do have the BT Toggle program but that just changes between 'ON' and 'OFF'

On the normal phones Nokia's and Sony's for example they just turn the BT 'ON' and thats it. They can send and receive files.

I know (or I hope) there will be a normal, logical reason for this. But I don't know what it is.

Cheers

Why not just leave it on discoverable? The "on" option is there so your phone isn't always viewable to anyone else, you shouldn't need to have it discoverable to send or if the devices are already paired...

I normally leave it as 'DISCOVERABLE' so people can send me stuff. But need to change it to 'ON' for me to send some from my phone.

Not sure about if they already paired though.. I'll try pairing it with another phone then try sending something when set up as 'DISCOVERABLE'.

Another thing, does anyone else have difficulty finding other phones when sending by BT.

None of my mate have BT phones but loads at work do. But it does not always find them all, e.g. if 6 have BT turned on it may only see four of them, but they definatlyu have them turned on as the others can see them all. Sod's law I suppose as it is only ever the one(s) I want to send something to that it sometimes cannot find.

I am the only person I know with a SmartPhone and never had BT before either.

I will try pairing first then sending as 'DISCOVERABLE' but this again taked me to the original point. NONE of the other STANDARD phones have to pair to send something...
