Guest susanhy Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Hi! had a bit of a mad moment yesterday. Got a new smartphone, to which I had added only a few important numbers as contacts. Got home last night to sync it with my PC to get all my contacts from outlook. Sync'd in the wrong direction and have now overwritten all my contacts in outlook with the few I had added to my phone  Have I lost them totally? Is there any way at all I can get them back? And how do I back-up to stop this happening again - I've looked at the backup/restore in activesync and it is greyed out, so I guess that isn't an option.... Thanks!
Guest ferret Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Have you looked in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook? Backup/Restore is always greyed out with Activesync because it doesn't work. Orange provide a Backup Restore facility, somewhere in the Menus. Uses GPRS/Pass through to store your information on their server. There's also third party applications out there, Sprite Backup to name just one. Good luck!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 You may have a bak file for your contacts, but normally once overwritten there is no way to recover lost contacts.
Guest boysweek Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Yep, they will have been moved to your Outlook Deleted Items folder BUT if you have Outlook set to empty this folder every time you exit Outlook (the default setting I think) and you have closed Outlook since doing the sync, you will have lost them.
