Guest Trancersteve Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Can't believe this is not a function of the media player. (WTF!) Some of the mixes I have are like +120mins in length. Is there software that can seek through a mp3 file?
Guest ferret Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Pocket Music does and I'm quite sure BetaPlayer (freeware) does too.
Guest Trancersteve Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Pocket Music does and I'm quite sure BetaPlayer (freeware) does too. cheers for some reason i only thought betaplayer was for movies hehe whoops! that works nicely!
Guest ele-mental Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 WMP10 does (for the SMT5600 users).
Guest floppydonkey Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Beta Player is the best, simple all round media freeware going. In the settings there is a detailed EQ and a page to customise the hotkeys. The latest version, (which is labeled unstable but I have had no problems) displays the track name and time. Up yours Media Player 9. Pretty but who wants a pretty player if you cant make any adjustments?
Guest Pigo Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Agree with floppydonkey down to the last word. There is no other app that has my respect like Betaplayer! It's the first app I install when I do a hard reset. and the so called "unstable" version works like a charm for me. no problems yet. Beta player RULES! wmp??? what's that? certainly not an MP3 player!! Pigo
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Yeah, second that OT: How did you get the nick "floppydonkey", or is that not something I want to know about? ^_^
Guest floppydonkey Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Beta Player won't play WMA but what are you doing encoding them anyway?, I encode at 192k MP3 and the sound through my sony headphones can't be sniffed at considering it's a mobile. The Bass response isn't fab but at the end of the day, the onboard sound system will have been designed for tinny, squeaky sound through the speaker. If you move the bass up on the EQ more than 4-5 clicks, then it distorts. But I can live with that! ^_^ Before anyone asks, I picked up a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor off ebay for £3.50. (Well worth it to use your own headphones instead of those cack things you get.) And FLOPPYDONKEY is nothing more innocent than a silly name, most people laugh and it's a bit better than NEIL. Infact it's quite funny when I call customer helplines and tell them that my account name is FLOPPYDONKEY! (I usually get......"can you spell that for me?") LOL I know i'm a gimp.
Guest Djarid Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Unfortunately I have a fair few "legacy" WMA files (I usually use ogg for preference) which I ... ah... inherited ^_^
Guest nickcornaglia Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 80% of my music is ripped to WMA. But WMP10 works great. The additional functionality added, including song FFWD, is a great addition to the software, grant it, it should have been there in the first place! ^_^
Guest Pigo Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 There is a lot more that should have been there in the first place. they should have made WMP better from the start. windows only supports windows files.... typical Microsoft way of thinking!!!! Pigo
Guest Confucious Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 windows only supports windows files.... typical Microsoft way of thinking!!!! Pigo Since when has MP3 been a windows file? WMP supports MP3s. I just wish Orange would hurry up and release WMP10 for the C500.
Guest Charlie Mouse Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 BetaPlayer can play WMA files (and WMV) if you use the latest (unstable) version and download the .ASF plugin (available from the BetaPlayer site). It works a treat!
