Guest jamies Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Hi there- I've just purchased an Audiovox SMT5600 to replace my Motorola Mpx-200. So far I love this phone, but I have a few quick questions that I'm sure this community can answer: ^_^ 1) I charged the phone about 16 hours in a 65 degree room. Since charging it I've left the phone on and don't plan to turn it off it until it tells me to charge it again to try to properly condition it. However today I've noticed the battery is running down pretty darn fast. I haven't been using voice but have been using data a fair amount and going through and changing the settings, etc. After 8 hours of occasional use today my battery is already at 70%. That seems to be going faster than many other user's experiences. Could I potentially have a bad battery? 2) What are the current thoughts on conditioning a new Lithium Ion battery? I want to do it right this time as my Motorola had horrible battery life with SmartPhone. I do believe in charging overnight but should I follow the three cycles guideline: charge overnight, use until 10-20%, charge to full, repeat 3 times? In other posts there seemed to be some disagreement as to if you should use this method for conditioning a lithium ion battery. Should I avoid topping the battery off until after these 3 cycles? Thanks in advance!
Guest dapunk Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 the battery used in this phone is pretty good and i doubt you will have any noticable diff if you use your conditioning method or if you dont. as for your battery life concern, make sure the GPRS isnt staying on all the time after you are done with data. if the little G is still where the antenna icon should be then you need to disable GPRS after your done by presing and holding the home button then choose disconnect GPRS from the menu that pops up. i dont know if this happens with the Audiovox cause i use an SP3 but its prob the same
Guest Brody Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 The SMT5600 doesn;t have the menu associated witht he home key unfortunately and GPRS doesn't seem to disconnect automatically even with the timeout set
