Guest maxatax Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Hi everybody! I bought a dead cheap AT&T MPX200 on ebay, to see if i can make it work over in France! Well, i don't know if it's unlocked or what, but it seems to accept my orange sim card rather well, thought i can't call, there's no service. But is that because it's still locked, or because it doesn't work with the 900mhz, i'm pretty sure it doesn't work with 900mhz, cos it's running on 2002. Well, see my problem? I can't tell if it's unlocked first! And also, i've been searching up and down on the web, round some dodgy place etc, and can't seem to find the 2003! I might go on ebay to buy it, but that's rather anoying when i know it's floating somewhere around here! Also, is the data in the phone accessable with the computer? I mean with the usb cable can i get into the phone from the comp and look what's in there? Thanks a lot in advance, and best regards. Max.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Hi there maxatax. Welcome to MoDaCo ^_^ Unfortunately there is not a legal version of the 2003 for the MPX200 so giving links etc here or in a PM is not allowed. The only versions around are the AT&T which was not made available to the public and there are also two hacked versions which were removed from MSmobiles after legal action was taken.
Guest maxatax Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Hi Pzee! Thanks a lot for your reply, i wasn't clearly asking for that 2003 version, knowing that it was on the edge, and i've found the german one finaly. Well any idea about the other isues? How do i acess the files inside the phone via usb etc! Thanks a lot again, and best regards. Max.
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 You may already have a file explorer on the phone, but even so you will want Binary's essential Smart Explorer from here. While you're there get Task Manager as well. That's just as handy. You were asking about file exploring through the USB connection though, so you will need ActiveSync from Microsoft, here. ^_^
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Do not upgrade to 2003 just to see if will unlock the 900band as it will not. AT&T phones do not use the 900band due to hardware and no software flashing etc will make it work.
