Guest GotPhil Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 I have a SMT5600 on AT&T, two questions: 1) When I connect my phone to my PC via USB it seems to lose the connection after a few minutes and act like its disconnected but the phone will keep charging. How can I make it so the PC and phone will always be connected when they are connected via USB? 2) My phone is setup to sync with my Exchange server, it works fine when its not plugged into my computer. However when I plug it in to my computer it brings up a message saying "Unable to connect using default connection, would you like to use the pass-thru connection?" every 5 minutes. It's getting annoying and I remember there being a way to have it automatically switch to the pass-thru when connected, but can't find this setting anywhere. How can I get this message to stop coming up? Thanks so much!
Guest martin Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Not entirely sure but... 1 Try goings to Settings-Homescreen and changing the timeout to Never. This kept cutting off multimedia album so I suppose it could do the same to other apps. 2 What are all your available options listed for 'Internet connection' ? Have you setup the phone for peroidic E-mails or syncing every 5 minutes and have you tried disabling it ?

Under "Internet connection" I have two options: GPRS (AWS GPRS) and Automatic My Peak and Off-Peak sync are both set to "When new items arrive" and roaming sync is set to "Manually". I also have it marked to sync outgoing items when they are sent. For "Connection Rules" I have it set to sync every 5 minutes with the server when connected to a PC. I tried disabling sync with server while connected to a PC, which stopped the prompt every 5 minutes. However I would like it to sync with the server whether or not its connected. I remember there being a dialog that let you set it to automatically use pass-thru when default is not available but I can't find it anywhere. I'm hoping one of you ubergeeks can point me in the right direction! Thanks so much!!
Guest martin Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Under "Internet connection" I have two options: GPRS (AWS GPRS) and AutomaticWhere is the pass through option. Is it under Internet connection or work connection ? Have you had a look in the PC activesync program under Options. Make sure 'Enable syncronization with a server' is ticked and then click 'Configuration'. Check the connection settings.

I don't see a "pass through" option anywhere in Data Connections (work or internet). Enable synchronization with server is checked on my PC and the connection settings appear correctly. How should the connection settings on my PC be though?
