Guest craig4wd Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Is it just me? I've searched the posts but couldn't find anything on this. I'm getting two sets of email on my phone. I check my POP mail via GPRS to an account on my SPV called WORK and then go into the office and ActiveSync then I end up with two sets of email on the phone, one from my desktop through ActiveSync and the other from the GPRS POP connection. Account Setup 1. SMS 2. ActiveSync 3. Work (setup as Network=The Internet, POP3, All Messages first 500 bytes. 2. and 3. end up with the same emails. I don't want to download the full email to the phone on GPRS How should I set this up correctly?
Guest stretchie Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 You lucky bugger, I cannot get any.. Tried putting in the details for my static .co.uk address, got ONE e-mail thru ONCE and that's it. Could sent either.. And tried again with the orange.net e-mail I set up because I presumed it work work a doddle because there is even an app on the C500 to set up e-mails for you... Cannot get it to work.. :-((
Guest craig4wd Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Hi Stretchie - does all your web browsing work ok over GPRS? If that works then your problem with your email is probably just your settings. My POP stuff does a take a while to come down so maybe your ISP's pop email is slow and it's timing out on you. If your browsing doesn't work then it's probably the access point setting. With SMTP I had to get the right settings from vodafone for smtp relay. It's just real damn annoying having two lots of email!!
Guest Confucious Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 When you check your emails via GPRS it leaves them on the server so you can get them on your PC. When you ActiveSync it just copies what's on your PC to the phone hence two copies. Simplest way to stop this is just delete it from ActiveSync if you don't want to copy them to your phone. Orange.Net email is the only one I have NOT been able to get working!
Guest Parre Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Im kinda interested in this aswell. I do the active sync when im at work for my "work emails". Works flawless. THen i want to call in via our modem pool and get my mails via IMAP4, cause i want to leave a copy of the email on the server so that i can check em again via my OutLook at work. Ive setup the the phone and when i try to check my email messages it connect to our modem and logon correctly. Then it says downloading headers and folders, but i dont get any emails in my phone  THen i try to send a message via this email seetup and get an error " The mess. could not be sent. Verify that u have network covarage and that your account info is correct and try again" *sigh* anybody have a clue??
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 There are a few threads on IMAP settings, try a search I think people were saying that the implmentation of IMAP is flawed, but I don't use it personally so couldn't comment
Guest Parre Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 ahhh i got email and active sync working now all by my self thanks anyway
