SPV & SPVM1000 Car Kit

I have an original SPV orange button car kit fitted in my car and I am now the proud owner of the SPV M1000. It seems to me that the plug and socket on the base of the phone are the same although fitted in reverse ie the SPV M1000 plug goes in back to front.

Does anybody know if my car kit will work with the SPV M1000 after I have fitted a new cradle and turned the plug round?
