Guest roobottom Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 Can someone please quickly run me through (or point me in the right direction) the steps for setting up active sync with bluetooth on the Orange SPV C500 (a wonderful phone!) I have active sync 3.7.1 and my bluetooth adaptor is a Silicon Wave dongle. HCI: 1.2 (000), LMP1.2 (0757) ..don't know if this makes any difference. thanks!!
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 There are loads of threads on this already, so you could try a search on "bluetooth activesync" and specify the C500 forum to narrow it down a bit This is a simple step-by-step guide (see Speedy's 3rd post on the first page): http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=116285 This is a more detailed guide, with pictures and stuff, but basically says the same thing: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2643
Guest Confucious Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 13 posts below this one in this forum you will find this thread. Doesn't this help?
Guest roobottom Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 cheers for those, but it still wont work. Okay, so I know i've got to set up my Com ports on the PC and phone. The ones on the phone are set as Inbound: COM6 and outbound COM7, I can't change these, I'm guessing you're not supposed to be able to.... Now, looking at the Local services tab in Bluetooth Configuration on my pc, I can see that the com port is set to COM4, so I tried to change it, but my only options are COM4 or COM7, I don't know if COM5 is in use by something else. When I try to run bluetooth activesync setup on my phone, I gives me 'you must be paired with a bluetooth device that offers this service', but I am. arrrgh! Just when I thought this was going to be simple. -------------------------- UPDATE ------------------------------- I've now got my bluetooth places to add COM5, and activesync now tries to connect, but I get this...
Guest Confucious Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Do not try connecting from the PC. Connect from the phone.
Guest roobottom Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 yes! that works! thank you!!! but does this mean that I have to sync from my phone everytime? Or will it know to sync automatically from now on?
Guest Confucious Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 You have to connect from the phone -how it syncs is up to the options you have set in Activesync on the PC. I have mine set to sync continuously when connected.
