Guest ncolli1981 Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 Hey people, I have one hell of a problem with my SPV e200. I turned it on this afternoon and the home screen had changed, I pressed start to go into the menu, in an attempt to change the home screen details. However upon pressing start I just get a blank screen, I am unable to access my inbox, camera, settings, home screen basically all of the options are gone. So i turned the phone off and back on, now the phone come to the home screen and says "No home screen layouts can be found. Install a valid home screen layout etc etc etc." As I cannot access the menu, I am unable to restore the factory settings. Can I still do a hard reset ? does anybody have any ideas what is wrong ? can it be fixed ? If you cannot understand this but think you might be able to help PM me with your number and I will try to explain over the phone. Thanks in advance
Guest drblow Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 Sounds like you will have to hard reset manually. I'm pretty sure you have to hold the voice record button while starting up, but you can easily find instructions here.
Guest ncolli1981 Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Ok, so I have followed the hard reset instructions 7. Turn off the SPV. 8. Hold the 'Voice Memo' button down while turning on the SPV. 9. Press and hold the Action button (joystick middle button) for 2 seconds as instructed. 10. Press 8 to select 'Erase IPSM data'. 11. When it has finished doing this (it takes a while), it will say PASSED. Press the left direction pad twice and choose 3 to close the diagostics. 12. On the three colour 'Canary PV' screen, hold the power button down. This will re-start the phone with the Orange Sunset screen. The only problem is that when I get to step 10. Press 8 to select 'erase IPSM data'. 8 does not say the above, it says 'RUU RECOV'. When I select this the phone turns off, comes back on, loads back up to the home screen and all my problems, mentioned in the above post are still there. Any Ideas ???????????
Guest squall Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 the partial reset clears your registery, so all the changes you make to the phone, ie homescreens are lost. after a partial reset a maunal hard reset clears the phone, preventing you having random lost files etc. After hard resetting you have to install everything again
Guest Pondrew Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Ok, so I have followed the http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset instructions 7. Any Ideas ??????????? Ok. Post Orange Rom update the Erase IPSM data was replaced with the RUU Recov option. I understood that it does the same thing in hard resetting your 'phone. But I didn't remember it TURNING ITSELF off after you select it. Have you tried again? And in my experience no homescreen will survive a hard reset so it really doesn't sound like the reset worked... :?
Guest Chaser81 Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Worse comes to the worst, try ROM updating your SPV again. This will re-install your ROM and essentially does the same as a Hard Reset anyway.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 First of all you need to go to Accessories folder and run Clear Storage after this then attempt to do a Hard Reset. Both methods I mention do slightly different things.

Both methods I mention do slightly different things. OK, I have tried several more hard resets, the phone now comes on with the home screen. If i press start I get my list of applications and folders, Awarner, you suggest clear storage, that option is not there, infact there is nothing in the accesories folder. How do I rom update ? please bear in mind since all this started the phone will not sync with my pc.
Guest squall Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 you can run the update from the bootloader. 1. put phone in bootloader 2. insert into cradle 3. run update file. All should be well
