Drives everybody mad. It doesn't work for some people including me. I tried/tried/tried again and finally gave up. I went and bought a second usb cable from Jessops so I could sync in work too.

Watch out for bluetooth headsets also. If the phone is locked you cannot initiate a voice dialled call from the headset(although Orange says this depends on the headset, but I don't believe them). Don't forget, in the UK, it's againtst the law to operate your phone while driving including unlocking it to initiate a voice call, not to mention dangerous cos it makes your blood boil when the damn phone doesn't work right.

This phone's got more bugs in it than a giant anthill.

If you ever get anywhere after reading ALL the pages about different ways people got bluetooth to work with activestink, and none of those ideas worked but your's did, please stick it on this forum so we can all waste ANOTHER 2 days playing with bluetooth trying to get activestink working on our phones.

WTF is your problem myjess?

Anyway, i just got my phone back from service (no despite your greatest dreams myjess the phone didn't explode from buggy software, if you must know it was in my pocket and i had a run in with an evil looking pavement, but that's not relevant right now)

I got activesync to work over bluetooth ah so:

Windows XP PC running SP2.

Attach USB Bluetooth dongle to PC. Let XP load in the drivers for the dongle etc..

Go to Bluetooth options in control panel. Make PC Discoverable on the options tab. Add incoming com port on the com port tab.

Make sure activesync com port is set to the same one as you just added in the bluetooth options. If it says it's unavailable (which it usually does) just get activesync to search for device and it will become available.

Get C500. Go to Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > Bluetooth. Turn bluetooth on. Click menu, go to Devices. Click Menu, go to new.

C500 will search for devices. PC name will appear as a device. Select and press done.

"Done" all the way to the homescreen.

Go to Activesync - Sync Via BT.

Kerplink - Sync away.

That didn't work for me, possibly because i had it working with my Widcomm drivers before I installed SP2. Anyway what I had to do I posted here.

I already did what you siggested diehard. None of the previous ways of getting bluetooth to sync have worked for me.

I have paired the two devices. I can send files from the right click menu in windows explorer to the phone but I cannot get activesync to work at all no matter how hard I try.

SeaneyC: So you didn't send it back for a service cos you couldn't see the screen for all the dust

WTF is wrong with me is that I have spent 3 days till the wee hours of every morning trying to get bluetooth working. Iam fecking knackered.

You may not know this but every time you re-install the widcomm software it wants to reboot, reboots take time, uninstalling the widcomm software takes time. Finding out why the com ports are coming in at com10 and 11 and how to reduce this number takes times. Trying to find out why the MS bluetooth enumerator would not load again takes time. Cycling syncing through 3 com ports takes time. reloading activstink takes time. It all leads to time and if I was a business I would love to bill someone for time accrued if I could find out exactly where the problem lies.

moan groan gripe gripe!

go-on flame me, I dare you.
