Guest AlanJC Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Surely it can't be right, I was on the Select 500 tariff without upgrading my phone for about 2 months, had a call saying they only offered that with a phone, so I took the crappy Moto flip as the free one, and that was about July or August I think, anyway, was just looking on the Orange website and noticed they now have a section to enter your account number and they will calculate any upgrade fee instead of having to phone up, so I thought for a laugh I would have a look. It said my upgrade fee was £58 and the SPV C500 was free, so I signed up for it. I am fully expecting a call or email to say that those details are wrong, and it should be X amount, but after seeing some of the things these little things can do at the Modaco event on Saturday, I was considering getting one, and for £58 how can I refuse? I will sell my 6230, which will pay that, and leave me with enough to pay my last (somewhat high) bill  Oh well, will wait and see if anything turns up in the mail now
Guest Chaser81 Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Sometimes Orange make mistakes... A friend of mine went into a shop and was told he would have to pay a £100 upgrade fee. He was told it would appear on his next bill and was okay with that, but to date: No £100 on his bill. Weird eh?
Guest AlanJC Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004  Orange phoned, their system flagged an error, the upgrade fee should have been £250. I was expecting it, but still sad now :D
Guest dazmanultra Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004  Orange phoned, their system flagged an error, the upgrade fee should have been £250. I was expecting it, but still sad now :D LOL, that's crazy - the C500 is cheaper than that on PAYG or even SIM free!
Guest janp92 Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 I did the same on orange, but my renewal date was in 4days time lol. Get this they wanted an £88.12 upgrade fee. I decided to ring them too see if they would waver it considering its only 4days lol. They had the cheek to say we'll drop it down to £75. I obviously told them where to go and am now waiting lol. Awful and rude customer services
Guest philgriffiths Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 I got quoted about 80-90 quid to upgrade to the C500 a couple of days ago and I'm coming into the final month of my contract so i will just call them and tell them i want to cancel my contract when the 12 months is up, which should get me a better deal. worked for me last year when i got my E200 for free. I feel I shouldn't have to do these things to get a good deal from a company i have given my money to for nearly two years but if it works i'll keep doing it.
Guest maxmix Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 As I quoted elsewhere on the forum.... Check out www.mobiledealer.co.uk C500 £160 brand new PAYT  maxmix PS Free UK delivery.... via SD

Hi What about your number, I am assuming its a new contract , so does this mean you will now be getting a new number as well... would really be frustrating to have to change numbs so often. rgds jim
Guest kurtfhouse Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I did a check with this just now aswell and it quoted me £58.75 upgrade fee, I already upgraded to a C500 four months ago! Might be woth doing and selling it on ebay! Although two people getting the same quote and one being an error I think the system might flag another error somehow

What i was saying is that you tell them you want to cancel your contract.. then they offer you a better deal to upgrade (hence keeping your old number). Of course you are slightly knackered if they don't offer you anything any better, or just tell you to get lost. But nothing ventured nothing gained and all that.... However i do actually like changing my mobile number every once in a while. helps reduce the amount of texts or calls selling stuff (or old friends/ex-girlfriends calling!)
