May not work for other people.

Follow this first of all.

Read Speedy's setup here.

Then if this does not work UNTICK the first upper com port in the Bluetooth BTserialPortSetup menu in the Configurations menu on the last page of icons.

As soon as I unticked the upper com port, I said sync via bluetooth back in the activesync menu and wham, bluetooth activesyncing.

About bloody time too.

I have this working now, thanks to all your help, it connects fine over bluetooth.

Now, is there a way to do this in reverse?

I want to click connect on my desktop and it'll connect over bluetooth to the phone, so I can check text messages and emails and stuff via activesync without having to press anything on my phone.

Is there anyway to do this or is it just another pipedream?

once you've set up a bluetooth dial up connection on your pc - all you have to do is turn one the bluetooth on your phone and on your pc log into the connection and your good to go. its actually quite fast - i'm getting 115/sec using t-mobile here in the us. and i'm only getting 1 bar of signal strength where i am - i'm impressed.

I don't mean i want it to dial. I want it to connect to activesync from the pc.

This is so I can syncronise etc without having to plug the phone in, or even touch it.

Any ideas?

Radioimp, do you not just right click the activesync icon and do connect - it will scan all available ports and connect on your BT com port and then sync.

If i right click the activesync icon, I don't have a 'Connect' option.

I'm using activesync 3.7.1, which is the latest version I can find.

Also, in the activesync program, I can't find an option that would do that.

EDIT: I've just tried the "Get Connected" option, and although that scans the ports, it doesn't connect to the phone, is it meant to?

Sorry for being thick if it's something completly obvious that I'm missing

If your phone and PC both have BT on, then it *should* connect when you do "Get Connected". However for some reason this seems to be much harder to initiate than from the phone. I haven't been keeping up with this issue, so hopefully somebody with more knowledge than I can set you on the right track.

AFAIK you can't instigate the connection from the PC, it HAS to be done from the phone. Has anyone got it conecting from the PC? I certainly haven't but would be interested to know if it can be done.

Service Pack 2 seems to be a running theme here, the bluetooth just seems to not work very well at all.

Well, it works, but it's an absolute pain to get it working the first time.

I can't for the life of me get this to work. Could it be that my dongle doesn't support activesync?

The devices shows up in "Blutooth devices" but when I click sync on the phone it asks me to bond with device (despite the fact I just did)

edit/ actually i see two devices for bluetooth, the Belkin Bluetooth adapter and the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator. Should I unustall one of them?

Ignore the message on the phone - it is just advice not a warning. Really dumb the way they have done it. Just go to async on the phone and connect via BT and it will either work or not.
