How to restore a back up ???

I always make a backup via Active Sync for my phone.

My smartphone somehow reset all the data & setting by itself, so I wanto restore my back up on HD to it.

But I can't do it because the device name & partnership name with active sync was also reset to default. Not the same with the one I used when I made back up.

How do I change the device name ???

( Through registry or else ??? )
