So who went to the Meet and saw the MPX220?

All in the question really - what was it like, how was it to use, any glaring issues?

To be honest, the presence of the i-Mate Jam & the MPx rather over-shadowed the troubled MPx220.

Seemed fine. I had been waiting for this phone since last Xmas, but now I know there's no point in me changing my contract, I was rather jaded.

Its a nice phone with good response, but I didn't get to play with it for too long. I have no idea how fast it really is, except it seemed much faster than my Original SPV, and I have no idea how (poor?) the camera is. As one word of note though, an Orange rep informed me Orange are thinking of dropping the MPx220 completely, replacing it with the 'MPx300'. I have NO idea what thats going to be like (Partly because I don't think anyone's heard about it)...

i was pleasantly surprised by the 220 actually, felt great in the hand, dunno if it would replace my C500, but much better than i thought it was.

The thing is, i played with the JAM before the MPx(300) and the MPx was a big disappointment to me, i still dont get the point of the keyboard (those buttons feel much too small to me), and the imate JAM is a stunning bit of kit (our PPC version of Eclipse looked amazing on the JAM, but, grrrrrrr, 4 way :D)

If i was Orange, i'd get hold of the JAM asap, its gonna be huge.

So, kinda strange really, i went to the meet not expecting much from the 220 and find out its actually very nice, and i wanted to look at the MPx expecting great things only to be disappointed, ah well :lol:

Sooo, might not actually be that bad - great news for me as it's the only half-decent looking bluetooth/camera clamshell windows smartphone out there! Thanks for all your comments.

I've seen various reports of Orange taking it, not taking it, getting it ready for release in January etc etc. Also seen that O2 are meant to be launching it on 19th November!! We'll have to wait and see. I really like the look of the MPX but it's not one for one-handed texting etc which I need to that's off the menu. As for the camera quality - if it's a bit naff for a megapixel than I'm not so bothered as long as it's better than standard camphone quality. Hopefully with the well-received .MPX200 as it's predecessor the 220 should be a good phone.

To top that off, battery life is poor, and the camera sucks.

How much smaller is the screen in terms of millimetres or something? What is the tested battery life and how badly does the camera perform? Is it better than standard camera phone and just not up scratch for a megapixel camera or is it worse?

It's the tiny PPC phone that was on the MoDaCo shop flyer.

The Windows Mobile guys had one to play with.

Maybe the lass with the legs was passing by at the time... :wink:
