Well.. i need to make a decision, i've gone full circle with portable devices..

a few ipaq's.. sold them, then got an E200, returned it, got a P900, sold that and went back to the E200, liked it, drowned it in a tropical storm so had to go back to P900..

I love smartphone, hate the C500, but Orange in the UK seem to be dragging out the MPX220. Now.. do i sack it all and get a funky new ipaq, or hold out for eternity?

I need some support here people, few up of waiting but need all my contacts and email to hand all the time..

so it is bluetooth and a PPC or sitting tight for the 220?

Support people please!

just out of interest - why do you hate the c500? its just an e200 in a smaller case.

what are you looking for as support? there are a few mpx220 users, all of whom i'm sure would say its a great phone + worth waiting for. similarly, i'm sure most c500 users would say that its the best phone. its all personal preference in the end. if all you are looking for is your contacts + email, surely most mobiles offer this nowadays? Woah! is there an echo in here?

Guess posting from your smartphone must make things a little difficult eh?

well when i say support.. i mean support to hold out and wait for the 220. The C500 is not a pretty phone, the joystick doesn't feel good. As far as the deisgn goes, it's not particularly innovative. Granted it's small, small and ugly. Personal opinon of course..

Email and contacts.. which phones (apart from smartphones) can sync WELL all the outlook contacts I need, memory not being a problem, keeping the categories as well as all my diary dates and bits and bobs. Is there a regular phone that does this?

Also.. I HATE the way non MS phones ask you to OK the outlook connection, and it's not continously synced.. have to click to sync, the click 'allow access for XX minutes' It's just a pain.

The latest incarnation of Activesync is very good compared to the 1st one I had with my original Ipaq.. i'm impressed with the progress, but fustrated at the wait for new devices...

any thoughts?

If you liked your P900 you should take a look at the HTC Magician (aka Qtek S100, i-mate JAM, T-Mobile MDA Compact, etc.). First of all it's smaller (especially thinner), it's faster and it's screen is pretty much the same size. It runs on the Windows Mobile 2003, Pocket PC Phone edition platform which i also prefer. It even has a 1.3 MP camera built-in!

I was originally thinking about getting a P910i myself, but this Magician suits my needs perfectly, unlike the P910i.

P910: 115x58x26mm

S100: 108x58x18mm :D

E200: 120x50x24mm

----------------------------

If you don't like the C500 because of it's looks you could always take a look at the Qtek 8020... same hardware, different case and has a joystick.

i-mate JAM

i-mate SP3i (c500 in a different case )

no i don't really like the P900, I think it's clunky. The P910 is not worth it. I like the PDA style phones, but I like a keypad, plus it just looks odd when you talk on it. I like the smartphone OS and the way it enables you to type text and things using the keypad, in one hand... something crucial in rush hour when you have no space to breathe on the train!

Well, the i-mate JAM isn't clunky, it's smaller than your e200. That's what's so great about it, it's a pocket pc phone with the size of a (small) smartphone

The only thing that might bother you could be it not having a keypad then, i wouldn't mind pulling out the stylus myself. Most numbers I call are in my phonebook so I won't have to take it out anyway.

Just take a look at the two links in my previous post, the i-mate JAM is the Pocket PC Phone and the i-mate SP3i is the C500 in a different case, with a normal joystick and better looks.

i have seen the devices.. thanks for that, but you know what.. the chances of Orange taking these devices on soon is pretty much never.. so i guess i will have to put it down to sitting tight and waiting..

For those of you that got to play with the Jam a quick question, was the screen large enough to use one of the screen keypads so that you don't have to use the stylus?

Huh.... I don't get it.

How can this be a small smartphone with these dimensions: 108mm(L) x 58mm(W) x 18.1mm(T)?

do have to admit it's pretty nice looking. to big though. want something smaller.

Because it's not, it's a small pocket pc phone

It's only slightly larger than a small smartphone (c500 for example) though. Only 1cm larger in width...

The anextek sp230

So the P900/910 then. The Pxx are actually smaller in width and thickness.. tiny bit longer.

Nope.. this is a Pxx with windows OS..

looks like the keyboard is one like the P800 used to have with the little prongs that 'press' the screen. A great way to damage it for sure.
