Different C500 update versions per country (not country nr)

I Noticed that there are different versions of the update. I have NOT installed any of them because I am waiting for the Dutch update. But it got me curious.

Swiss Update

File: RUU_v1.00_OrangeCH_v4.1.5.5.exe

Version 4.1.5.5

UK Update

File: RUU_v0.995_OrangeUK_v4.1.1.4.exe

Version 4.1.1.4

French Update

File: RUU_v0_995_OrangeFR_v4_1_2_5.zip

Version 4.1.2.5

From what I read at modaco the 3rd number is the country number. As you can the other numbers are quite mixed up.

Can somebody tell me what the difference is between v1.000 and a v0.995?

Can somebody tell me what the difference is between v4.1.?.4 and v4.1.?.5 ?

Maybe posting the rom information can help. (start-> 4 (settings) -> 5 (about)

As an example:

In a posting on Modaco I found the following data for the UK update:

Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14217)

Radio Version 1337.032_0.03.18

ROM update versions

Operator: 4.1.1.4

Manufacturer: 1.1.1.91

Microsoft: 4.21.14217.0

Language: 1.1.1.91

File System: 4.21.14217.0

Can someone post the CH and FR data?

Yep, I'm not Swiss but live in Luzern. I was so pissed off with Swisscom having no Smartphones, I decided to go over to Orange and take advantage of the Optima 30 plan with a C500 for CHF 149.00. Although my Swisscom contract doesn't expire until March 05, Orange agreed I could take the phone now, and only start paying in March whereby my 079 number will be ported over. As for the ROM, I was just inpatient and wanted the upgrade. The only things I lost were the GPRS settings, but they don't really interest me anyway.

Correct... you can basically flash any country's update, the hardware is the same anyway. Plenty of languages to choose from in all the ROM versions. Only thing you have to change by hand are the GPRS settings. So if you don't use any of that Orange crap (no offence) nothing is to stop you from upgrading.. If the Qtek ROM's for their C500 version are as good as their old Canary-E100 ROM's I'm definitely flashing theirs on my C500 as soon as they come out !

Anybody knows about czech language support?

Unless the phone is released by a Czech operator i doubt if it will have it. Certainly the UK version of the C500 doesn't although it does have a fair range of european languages Czech isn't one of them.

Sorry.

kinda off-topic; what's up with the memory? after doing a reboot, the phone has 11,025 megs free. After one single call or SMS it has 6-8megs.. whats up with that?

Nowhere just yet, Qtek havent released (or have not needed to release) a ROM update for their C500 model yet.

Think I´m going to try the Swiss update..

I can live with a german user interface as long as it has DK dictionary.

An maybe I can run the UK update when I allready have the Swiss update

Thanks

One more good news, the interface is in Danish as well. And yes, you may always change later to a Danish' one.

Tried to load the Swiss ROM.. It also kills ActiveSync connection - tried loading it from Boot (Red/Green/Blue) screen without any luck..

Loading with phone on results in #294 - Invalid Vender ID

Loading in three color screen results in #264 - Connection error..

Any ideas anyone ?
