Guest XePeR Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 This issue has bothered me a bit lately, not sure why. WHY on Earth do any modern cellies still have protruding antenae/aerials? i have not owned a single phone in the last 4-5 years that's had one [the last phone I had which had a protrusion of any sort was a Nokia 5100 way back in the way-backs] and to be quite honest, I NEVER have any issues whatsoever with signal strength. [and i've moved about a lot in the last 4 years or so.] Maybe some engineers are just lazy, or maybe the reference design can't be changed for some reason or another. Either way, i think my MPX and Blackberry would look a lot "cheaper" if they hade this nodules jutting out from their tops. [the Blackberries with them look atrocious, imho] What's your opinion of this phenomenon?
Guest Burny Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Good question :?: ... will be well interested to hear the answer on this one. I reckon that "some" companies desperately need new designers as some phones could be MUCH smaller if the aerial was removed. So come on someone put us all outta our misery! Burny
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 There are numerous reasons from signal strength to space inside the phone with internal circuitry etc. The MPX200 would benifit from an external ariel as it's metal case does restrict it's signal. It would look butt ugly with an ariel though
Guest the_ugly_north Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 It would look butt ugly with an ariel though  A box of washing powder (Ariel) would look nearly as bad as an antenna (Aerial)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 and that but I make clean calls  /me makes a note to sleep sometimes and to use spellcheck :?
Guest kurtfhouse Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 wouldn't have even noticed if the ugly north hadn't pointed it out
Guest XePeR Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 my MPX200 gets wonderful reception :?
