Guest Emad Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 So, my contract was expiring next Friday and I figured I'd move to three as a) the Motorola A1000 looks fantastic and ubercheap and ;) there was no real incentive to upgrade (free c500, my bills stayed the same).. Soo, I called up to get my pac number and the nice person gave me 500 any time minutes and 30 txt messages along with a free SPV c500 for £25 per month - permanent contract (ie no 6 month only thingers ). I was on O2 OVP leisure plus (£20), but had £50-60 average bill.. Now looking forward to my mpx200 replacement :D
Guest Pondrew Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 Nice! My contract is up soon. Hope they'll be that desperate to keep me... They'll need to be though as there's no signal (or next to no) here at home and my average bill is a bit more then you (anyones guess why?! :? )
Guest olly_k Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 I did exactly the same mate except they only gave me the 500 minutes not the free text :D I guess asking for that PAC must have made all the difference! Buy the way don't get too carried away with your 500 mins cos it is only about 16 minutes a day and I have yet to find out (first new tarriff bill due) how much they charge outside the free minutes yet
Guest philgriffiths Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 Does anyone know if there are limitations on tarriff changes after an upgrade. I know if you upgrade you have to agree to another twelve month term but i want to upgrade my phone soon, then put my tarriff right down to as cheap as i can. anyone know if they will let me do this? Or will i have to stay on my current, or another given tarrif for a set period (like you sometimes have to when you get a new contract)
Guest Emad Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 I have to make lots of little calls during the day - my home phone handles longer ones in the evening.. Hmmm.. Imma buy a minisd card now
Guest Papa Smurf Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 I asked the question the other day and you can change your tarrif as often as you like. But it will only take effect from the next billing date.

But it will only take effect from the next billing date. You can change UP as often as you like, but you now have to stay on your chosen tariff for six months after an upgrade :-( I just found this out as I've lost my precious C500 and they want £300 to replace it. Was going to just get another contract and change down, but I only upgraded last month and I have to wait 5 more months to downgrade the tariff :-(
Guest Confucious Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 You lost it! poor sod. hope you've reported it so Orange can block it and send yo a new SIM. C500's are being advertised on PAYG for £160 now so for Orange to charge £300 seems a bit OTT. Hope you replace it soon.
Guest arikido Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 Emad, The same thing happened to me last month. I told Orange i was gonna walk as my bills were averaging £60 - 80 per month. Anyway, they sorted me with the c500 and the same tariff as you. I couldn't stop smiling! My bills are well cheap now, and i'm a happy man! What happens to the minutes you don't use? Does it get transferred to the next month or do you get a fresh crop?
