C500 Get Organised!

Perhaps a simple query for all you seasoned c500 users out there but, I have been trying to get organised with mine and am meeting with all sorts of problems!

I want to customise the 'Start' Menu (the same way you can with a PC) so that I can group certain application types, and get rid of the apps that are included with the phone. That way I don't have to trawl through 4+ pages before I reach the app I want.

Any suggestions on the best way to do this? I have Smart Explorer and the original File Manager but when trying to move some shortcuts, I am being denied as I do not have permission?!

You need to application unlock the phone to get the permission you need, click on OTA to go to the unlock page.

Once this is done, sync with your computer and go to explore, then go to

STORAGE/WINDOWS/START MENU

There you will see your start menu layout (funnily enough :lol: ). Check that you have your view settings to show hidden items or not all of the apps will show up.

Once you can see them all, go crazy, you can create new folders, rename folders, drag and drop app shortcuts into folders and copy, paste and delete shortcuts (great deleteing all that Orange tripe you don't need or want!).

It's the application unlock thing that was the stumbling block then. I have been thinking about doing it for some time, but as yet have not dared to proceed as I am still within the 14 day appro. period offered by Orange.

Having said that, I am impressed with this phone so don't think there is any chance it will be going back!

Before I do go to the OTA site for the app unlock, can anyone confirm if the lock is restored upon performing a hard reset?

Heart in mouth time, I took the plunge and now have an app. unlocked C500 :lol:

Also downloaded the Jeyo software so thanks for that tip!

Just been messing with the RJShortcut plugin, adding a static shortcut bar to this home screen to make things even easier.

Taken me ages to align the different plugins, mainly due to having to edit the xml, upload to the phone and then re-load the home screen each time. Is there an easier way than this - an app that you can run on the PC to view the .xml as it will appear before uploading to the phone?

Sorry if this appears to have gone off on a tangent, but it is still related to 'Getting Oraganised' :D

Please tell me there is an easier way ?!
