I want to forward pop3 mail though a firewall from a different port other than 110. Can it be done ?

errm

yes and yes

to change the pop3 port add :123 or whatever the port number is after the server name

to get pop3 on a different port is a lot more complicated, and posibly not smartphone related (but if you did something with nat and port redirection that might work)

I have been trying that but did not want to continue if the c500 email client did not support it. I understand what's involved from the firewall / server end. Cheers

Do you think that would be the best interim solution for picking up mail on the road. I have exchange 2003 with OWA and https all configured. I am not really keen on the OMA client it seems pretty naf to me.

I have been looking into the active sync but that seems to be a dead end from Orange even with the internetvpn gprs connection from what I read or do I mis-understand.
