Guest AbuEesa Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Hi guys - great site. Thanks to all for your contributions. My burning question after receiving my new C500 is that when I am using it in my car with my Nokia CK-7W Bluetooth car kit (which works absolutely perfectly with my old nokia phones), the C500 causes an unbearable echo for the other party. Anyone noticed this? And any ideas how to fix this? HELP! Also, if the bluetooth connection between the two is the problem (ie maybe they aren't fully compatible or summin'..), can I change my cradle (which is a Nokia pop-port cradle for a 6230) and use something more direct and friendly to the SPV? Cheers guys. Matt.
Guest beginner Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 I have exactly the same problem with my CK-1W. Only just have I been told to turn the vol down on the car kit. Apparently its feedback. Haven't tried it so can't tell you whether it works. But worth a go !!
Guest mardeman Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 I recived my C500 yesterday. Have only made one call with my CK-7 and was told by the person at the other end that they could hear themselves. How bad is this problem. I do about 1500 miles a monht, and am on the phone a lot, so if it is Bad, I will have to return the phone Before my 7 days is up. Spending a lot of time on the motorway means that volume on the kit does need to be quite high. Comments appreciated.
Guest SPVDave Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Yeah, I find I can only use my C500 and bluetooth car kit whilst parked up with the volume set to low. I can hear the other person ok, but they can hear a loud echo. It's really begining to annoy me and my callers. Looking for a solution, anyone?
Guest jpconijn Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I have exactly the same problem with my carkit.
Guest Blindfold Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 I have a brand new T-Mobile SDA (also HTC like the C500) and have exactly the same problem with my Nokia CK-1W. It's not really annoying for me, but people don't want me to call them, because they keep hearing themselves :D The same carkit works perfect with my previous Nokia 6310i Changing the volume doesn't help. I had a different SDA, but it had some hardware issues, so T-mobile swapped it. It also had this problem, so it must be a generic problem. If I see the other reactions it appears the C500 has the same problem, so the Qtek 8020 (also the same phone) should also have this problem. Maybe someone could find out for sure? I also have a Bluetooth headset (Plantronics M9000), and this works perfect. Solutions would be appreciated.
Guest tordofm Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 I also have a Nokia CK-7 and nobody will speak to me in whilst I am in the car. Does anybody have a bluetooth car kit that does work with this phone?
Guest Blindfold Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Well. too bad that nobody has any solutions. Another piece of info. Very strange, but somehow if I'm talking with people with a fixed line, the echo is less, than when I'm talking to people on their cellphone. The problem is getting more complicated, and I haven't got a clue if I can claim something like this at Nokia.
Guest xenophobe Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 The problem doesn't look very complicated at all. The Nokia car kits apparently don't like non-Nokia phones. I wonder if people have the same problems with the Parrot bluetooth kits...

I wonder if people have the same problems with the Parrot bluetooth kits... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I meant more complicated, because I think it's strange that the echo is less talking to people with a landline. The other thing. does anyone know if Nokia is obligated to support non Nokia phones on their Bluetooth carkit?
Guest b0bby Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I have built in bluetooth car kit from halfords, Uses the car speakers and has its own mic, works perfectly with no echo/feedback even at high volume.
Guest johnnykick Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I am using THB Bluetooth Kit with my SPV C500 and I am told that my voice goes like a robot and quality is intermittent. Also does anyone know how to get the phone to autoanswer whilst on bluetooth? My phone recognises the bluetooth car kit OK and displays the little headset and microphone logo at the top of the phone. On all my profiles I have set it so that the autoanswer is on but it just doesn't answer - I have to press the button on the bluetooth kit to get the phone to answer.
Guest Blindfold Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Ok I've been informing a bit and I got a reasonable explanation from a guy at the Expansys forum. The problem seems to be because the nokia carkits and phones use the handsfree profile to make a connection and they use a headset profile for the headsets. Most other phones use the headset profile for the carkit connection and because the carkit expects to get some sort of echo suppression and doesn't get it, this problem occurs. So I think the problem might be solved if we find a way to change the profile used for the connection to a handsfree profile with echo suppression. I'm not very technical, so I don't know if anyone knows if this is even possible? I hope that someone has some good news, cuz I'm getting more and more calling time every month because It's terrible to use the phone in the car. :)
Guest tordofm Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 It is nice to see some more info on this. I notice that a car profile exist's on the c500 but you cannot manually select it. I am assuming that this profile will have echo supression on? Anybody know how or fancy trying to hack the registry to enable the car profile without it being plugged into a car kit?

Guest b0bby Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 hey... you need to get a car kit with noise cancellation. it mutes the mic when it detects sound lower than a certain volume... as soon as u speak etc the mic is unmuted. u may notice this working sometimes when u have your c500 on speaker phone with the volume up high, it seems like its cutting out. :) - try turning volume down - if you have a loud car it could cause issues. - dont talk on phone with the windows down (the wind effects the mic - u get like a thuding sound) iv got a parrot ck3100 it works fine with my c500 and tbh its a bargain @ £95 almost all the features work perfectly. I used to have the £99 kit from halfords, it was horrible, it wouldnt automatically connect to the phone it always echoed or it was too quiet and ppl couldnt hear me.
Guest msiviter Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I have a Parrot Evolution car kit. It works perfectly no echo or feedback (and uses headset profile on my C500). The problem I do have is that I can't send my contacts to the Kit, it just says "contact sending fail". I'm following the instructions, I've noticed incompatibiility issues with other bluetooth phones and the C500 in the past. Can anyone help? Is there a fix to get rid of the French ROM update yet? Matt
Guest Blindfold Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 Yeah I heared the reason that the Parrot carkits work is because they support phones using the carkit and also the headset profile. Nokia just supports phones with the carkit profile (what their own phones use). As mentioned before. it's not a volume issue. it's just so depressing that I have a totally customizable phone like this and it's not possible to create a profile for carkit use. I have a leasecar and the carkit is leased with it, so it's not that easy to just change carkits.
Guest DJ Pierre Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 (edited) I bought the new ck3200 Parrot to use with a spv-c500. It works fine, the sound quality is good and no feedback whatsoever. I do have some issue's unfurtunatly: -Is there a usermanual online? I can't find it anyway and you only get a installation manual. -Can i mod the homescreen? I can connect to the parrot with my Bluetooth-Laptop and i see some folders, but i can't find the picture in the parrot'menu, whitch i succesfully send to 'pictures'folder on the parrot. I schrunk the picture to 160x128 and named it 'custom.jpg'. -Can i mod the ringtones? If yes, which audioformat is can i use? I tried Midi(for Nokiaphones e.a.), wav and mp3 but they won't copy to the 'ringtone'folder on the Parrot. Parrot doesn't recognise any of these formats. -Does the called-ID function work with an SPV-C500?(contact-pictures) It doesn't work in my case but maybe i'm overseeing something? -I had to copy my contact's one by one, is this normal in use with te SPV-C500? The Sync-all option is gray on my smartphone. I'm a bit disapointed about the quality of the operationbuttons, all buttons feel cheap and the scrollbutton has already fallen of(whitch i was able to push back in positioning). It operates way to heavy also. But it looks like a charm. Edited December 6, 2005 by DJ Pierre

Guest Blindfold Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Ok. As Tim Allen said in Galaxy Quest: Never Give Up, Never Surrender. As I'm probably going to change my phone before my carkit (and the choice will probably be between Nokia N92, and Qtek 8300/8310) I wonder if someone has been playing in their registry a bit so they can give me another tip. The thing is: Phone works if connected to a fixed carkit. The phone uses the carkit profile then. When connected to a bluetooth carkit it uses the headset profile. I want it to use the carkit profile when connected to my bluetooth carkit. It's my birthday today, so I hope someone has a nice present for me in the form of a good suggestion (one that doesn't involve getting another carkit). For the people that haven't read the other entries. The phone is a T-mobile SDA this is equal to an Orange C500 and the Qtek 8020. Thanks in advance
