Wanted,SMT 5600 rom!!

Can anyone help me out, i would like to try the smt 5600 rom on my c500.

Why i hear you ask, well i really REALLY want wmp10 and from the response i have been getting from orange, it won't be availbale on the c500 for a very long time, if at all!!

Hope someone can help.

ohh, where to start

1) the only place to get the smt5600 rom is from audiovox, and at the moment you can only get it 'on rom' in the form of a handset

2) the roms are 'locked' on the phone (from what i've heard from a very reliable source)

3) orange might do an update for the C500 with wmp10 in it if there isn't an increased licence fee for the wmp10, but thats up to orange, and they might or might not release it

i still don't understand everyones facination with having the latest and greatest software on there phone, media player 10 - wow, nice playlist support and some nasty DRM well worth voiding warrentys for

Any attempt to load ROMS on the phone (other than those under agreement) could cause problems with support. It's really not worth it if you are still under contract.

The issue of WMP10 really needs to be taken up with the network provider or the distributor of the phone brand. It does seem that the SMT5600 is the only MS smartphone with WMP10 pre-loaded so the C500 is not alone in having WMP9.

I would wait for the others to catch up :wink:

Yes true, but i have been in touch with orange and they claim that there are nor current plans to release wmp10 on the c500, meaning it will not likely be available within the next six months, and there are talks of only releasing it on a new smartphone!! (From the horses mouth)

The rom must be available somewhere because people who had flashed to the orange rom to sim-unlock have been provided with it to flash there phone back to SMT 5600.

I would really like WMP10 because i have an xp mce 2005 pc, and it will not sync with wmp9, but with wmp it will sync both music and tv.

As for causing problems with orange technical support, for the help they have been in the past, i am really not that worried, a hard reset is the same on any phone, plus the people here are far more useful any day of the week.

So anyone want to help me out??

FWIW, listening to 60 minute talk radio show segments MP3s, FF/REW is a HUGE advantage to WMP 10 for me. :lol:

Just to clarify - This forum is of the opinion that the copying of ROMs is illegal? And the hacking of ROMs?

I ask because this seems to be a grey area - some forums allow it (eg 3G.cio.uk allowed florin_m to post hacks to the A835) and others believe it to be illegal. I was going to ask if florin_m could hack WMP10 out of the 5600 ROM and make a hybrid for the C500 but obviously won't if it's against this forums rules.

No linking to ROMs or where to get ROMs allowed here, that's the rules.

FWIW, the Audiovox ROM doesn't run on the C500, so if you could get it, it wouldn't work, and if you found a way to get WMP10 out of the ROM of the Audiovox, it wouldn't work either.

Sorry, didn't realise it was against the rules, i do apologise. Just have to wait for orange then, in the meantime i may trim my long growing beard, and look at those flying pigs :lol:
