C500 calling first person in the recent calls list ?!?!??!?!

Hey all,

I have a big issue with my C500. What happens is, it periodically calls the first person in my recent calls list. So, if I called a colleague first, it'll periodically call him. It also happened when I'd deleted the list, and called my girlfriend. It then started periodically calling her.

It's a Danish Orange C500. I unlocked it with imei-check.co.uk's v3 unlocker. There are no GPRS connections defined. It's paired with a Logitech Mobile Freedom headset (BT).

Other than that, I have Photo Contacts installed, and xBar (newest version), plus Power Calendar. So, nothing very unusual.

I ran the tryout.exe at some point, from the accompanying miniSD card.

Anyone have ANY idea why this happens ? It is VERY annoying. I have to clear the recent calls list EVERY time I've made an outgoing call, or it'll happen again.

I haven't come across this before :?

Are you sure its not because the phone is in your pocket without the keypad lock on and somehow the buttons are being pushed and its calling people that way? (probably a stupid suggestion)

If not the onlt thing I can think of is a hard reset

Hey

I'm sure that's not the issue. I always enable the keypad lock, and it still happens. However, when you enable the device lock with a pin code, it doesn't happen.

Hey hey all,

I noticed with JetPackJim (game) or Pocket Minigolf installed something that would make the game connect and report some scores. I uninstalled both, and it seems the problem ceased ?!?!

It hasn't been making any weird pocket-calls all day, even if I had keypad lock on, and not device lock.

If anyone else can confirm this, or has any knowledge of this, it would be great

We might be onto something here...

You see, with the keypad lock, voice dial can still be used.

But with the Keyguard lock, it CANNOT...

And, be it on Bluetooth headset, or even possibly the voice dial button on the phone, it is an easy process to have the phone re-dial the last called number...

So once again, are you SURE this is not what's happening, be it via phone OR Headset, as it sure sounds like the correct symptoms mate...

Hey,

you might be right. The phone and the headset were in the pocket at the same time. However, I also noticed it happening while the phone was lying on the table one time.

Also, I did NOT have any voicedials set up at that time (I did make a couple yesterday though). So, that's kinda weird.

But, after I uninstalled Jetpack Jim and Pocket Minigolf, it hasn't happened since. I will however, leave the phone on keypad lock and carry it around in my pocket for a couple of days, just to see if it happens again.

And... what's the voice dial button on the phone ? Don't know which it is

Press and hold volume down button on side of phone for voicedial.

My original SPV used to randomly make phone calls. It was on a table and just decided to call a friend who was stood close by. I woulder if it was voice dial (I never used it though)

Do you have some type of voice recognition software installed? if that is the case, then the BT headset may be activating and calling the most recent number.

Nopes, no voice recognition

It did it again when I was playing pool with some colleagues this afternoon. I leaned down, and suddenly it called my colleague Stephen. It might indicate that it's a keypress that does it. But, when the keypad is locked, and there couldn't possibly have been said anything that might resemble one of the three voicedials I have, which keypress could that be ?

Your all missing a point I made...

Whether you use, have set, or even know what voice dials are, MOST BT headsets can and will dial the last number, at the touch of a specific button, or by catching the button on it a certain way...

So no voice tags needed at all...

Make sure this is not what's happening!

Ok, let's play with that thought for a minute. As far as I can read in the Logitech Mobile Freedom manual, the headset doesnt' have that functionality. It has a multipurpose button you can use for turning the volume up and down, plus disabling the mic. It also has another button used for turning on/off the headset, and pairing.

Do you know of any other button push that can make the headset dial the last number ? Cause I mean, the idea is plausible. If the headset can indeed do what you're suggesting

Not sure about that particular headset, but the two I've got (Both motorolas) only have the one multifunction button - not counting the volume keys- and its the presses of the multifunction button of varying length that tell the phone whether to go into pairing mode, hangup, redial, put call on hold or switch off!!!!!

Do some experimenting with the phone and headset in view and see what happens - who knows you may have uncovered a hidden facility on the headset!!!

I think it depends on whether the headset and phone support the "headset" profile, as opposed to the "handsfree" profile. The C500 definitely supports headset, so it really all hinges on the headset!!!!
