Bluetooth Specification confusion ...

Hi, I'm after a BT USB adapter for my PC but I'm extremely confused about the Bluetooth specification types. I've read that the C500 is Bluetooth Class 2 (which means its range is 20m - correct?). But then I've seen the USB adapters that are 100m range but are NOT Class 2 (they are class 1.1) and the Class 2 ones only have a range of 10m.

Any ideas of what's going on and where I can get a cheap (up to £15) adapter that gives the maximum range? I've cheked out eBuyer already ...
