Guest dwhyte Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Hi all, I upgraded three days ago to an Orange C500 with an Orange World 4mb bundle. The 'G' in the middle of the screen has always appeared but when connecting i get "unable to connect. verify you have network coverage and try again". Have been on the phone to Orange CS about 12 times and getting nowhere. Suspected causes include GPRS network problem/GPRS settings /bundle not active yet etc. I have had the settings updated 4 times, Hard reset, switched off and removed battery etc etc. Nothing works. Every time I phone I get a different reason and I HAVE confirmed that my 4mb bundle is active. Could it be the handset. I am in Edinburgh if that helps with GPRS network issues? Any help? Cheers, Dave
Guest martin Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 If the top centre G appears in the phone then it means the GPRS service will have been activated on your account in the HLR and that you are successfully attaching to the Serving GPRS node. You shouldn't really get 'unable to connect' though. What do you have set as the Internet connection in Settings-Data conenctions ?

Guest martin Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Try this... Delete ALL existing dialup, GPRS and proxy connections in Setting-Data connections, Menu-Edit. Re-create only a single GPRS connection for the Internet service. Description: Orange GPRS Connects to: The Internet Access Point: orangeinternet Set 'Internet connection: Orange GPRS' in the main Data Connections menu. Load internet Explorer and under Menu-Options-Connections, untick' Auto detect settings' and set 'Select Network: The internet' Let us know if that allows you to connect to the internet
Guest dwhyte Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Ok, I have now setup just the Orange GPRS connection etc as advised. I am still getting an "unable to connect...check network coverage" error. Dave
Guest martin Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 dwhyte I've sent you a PM
Guest DrEv1l666 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 HI Martin, I am also having exactly the same problem with my c500! Please can you share what you sent to dwhyte? thanks in advance!
Guest Just Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Hi, I've got the same problem too. Had GPRS connecting fine up until last week. Now nothing but the "Error: Unable to connect. verify you have network coverage and try again" error. Tried Orange support but other than changing my settings and checking the status of the network they have no solution as yet. Can anyone help ? Thanks in advance, Just
