Change sim card without switching the mobile off?

Is there a way to switch sim cards in a double adaptor without switching the phone off? I know it can be done on Nokias by typing in #3370#, but does anyone know whether there is such a thing for the spv e100?

Try tapping the Power button then choose Airplane Mode On-Off.

I actually don't have one yet, because I think that it won't be worth buying one if you have to switch the phone off. Can anyone verify whether the method pzee has outlined works?

Well I tried it myself sludgey: Shift networks using Airplane/Radio Mode On and Off.
