Guest madhatter2k Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Some of you may remember a few months ago when my Orange SPV would simply not connect to any networks. It would say no signal, or to check the SIM and try again. The phone is unlocked, and i tried various SIM cards, including o2 ones and Orange ones, with no luck on any of them. I bought this mobile through eBay, and i fear that it may have been stolen, or something like that and now the original owner has somehow asked orange to 'lock' that IMEI number, or something like that. would that be possible? if so, what can i do to make the phone usable again? i've had to go back to my T68i for the meantime, so please do have some sympathy... hehe. someone suggested updating / reinstalling the firmware, which I did - but no luck. any help would really be appreaciated! thanks in advance, madhatter
Guest squall Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Er no imei would not screw your phone up! the rom update is known to fix similar problems. If it didnt it maybe a hardware issue... other that reflashing again i cant see anyother solutions im afraid
Guest siu99spj Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 If the IMEI number was reported as stolen, the phone wouldn't work on any network as all the operators now lock against stolen phones. Doesn't which netowrk the phone was originally on, it would be barred from all (Unsure if that would extend to foreign sims though). Anyway, best bet is try talking to Orange, though I doubt they'd give you much support. Probably think you were the thief rather than an unsuspecting buyer.
Guest Confucious Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 If the phone has been reported stolen then Orange should be able to tell you and you can report the scroat you bought it from to the police...
