Guest miraclemaker Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I'd like to backup my contacts (and hopefully mys SMS messages) from my phone before I do the ROM update. I don't have Outlook installed so I can't do it via activeSync. Is there another program that will let me do this? Thanks.
Guest pisquee Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Outlook should have been supplied with your phone, so why not install it? other option is a program called sprite backup
Guest farq001 Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Are you on the Orange network? If so why not just use the Orange backup option? Okay, this won't backup your SMS messages but it will backup all of your contacts. Worked perfectly well every time I used it.
Guest miraclemaker Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Yes I am on Orange. Does Orange Backup send all info to Orange?
Guest farq001 Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Not exactly sure where the backup info goes, but the service is supplied by Orange so I guess the info goes to them. If you go to your start menu, then down to Orange, then the backup option. Its pretty straight forward, you set up an account name and password and then all your info is backed up via GPRS. Its free of charge - except of course for the GPRS charges. The options settings will allow you to decide what you want to back up - just one bit of advice though, if you decide to back up your 'my documents' folder, make sure you haven't got any files that are too large, as this will make for some hefty GPRS charges. You should ba able to find info on Orange backup in your user manual! Hope this helps.
Guest miraclemaker Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 That's great, it worked fine. Thanks for that
