Hope someone can help me (first post) with a little problem I have. I was trying to remove the Orange banners for the PIN input screen and call screens. I edited the registry following the instructions posted here

http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=115332. However I have deleted all the values in the MSCDIAL and can no longer access my recently dialed list. I get the following error - Can't find ".MSCDial" (or one of it's components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available. Is there any way to restore these values?

Thanks

D

Use PHM Registry Editor to check your registry settings. Head to:

HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/:MSCDial then hit Values (left soft key)

On SP2002 units, default Value Names and Data are as follows...

#####

Value Name: 0

Values Data: MSCDial

Value Type: REG_SZ

Value Name: 1

Value Data: cdial.exe

Value Type: REG_SZ

Value Name: 2

Value Data: 0

Value Type: REG_DWORD

Value Name: 3

Value Data: 0

Value Type: REG_DWORD

Value Name: 4

Value Data: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Value Type: REG_BINARY

Value Name: BannerImage

Value Data: windowsms_mobile.gif

Value Type: REG_SZ

#####

REG_SZ are String Values

REG_DWORD is a DWORD value

REG_BINARY a Binary Value

Possibly related question.

I have an Orange SPV E650. When I'm not using the phone I lock the keyboard.

At times, and there seems to be no pattern to it, when I try and unlock the phone to use it I get the error:

"Can't find ".MSCDial" (or one of it's components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available"

Rebooting the phone corrects the problem, until it happens the next time.

The OS is Windows Mobile 6.

It seems as though after a while the phone just loses it's "path" information, I get the above error, or similar if I try other activities on the phone, and a reboot corrects it.

Any ideas?
