SPV E200 GPRS.....disappeared?

Small problem with my phone. The little "G" icon that lets me know I have GPRS turned on has disappeared. Now the problem with that is I can no longer get email, MMS's, or access the internet.

When I try to connect it will attempt to do so, then after maybe 7 or 8 seconds the error "unable to place call" pops up.....This HAS worked for the past couple months and nothing else is wrong with the phone. The phone is unlocked, and had the latest ROM. I hard reset it twice and this is still happening, anyone have any ideas or heard of this? Has my phone just died?

Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is lack of signal. But im sure you're trying it in areas that it has worked in before.

Yea...don't know what happened, it just went out:? Calling Tmobile now to get something in the meantime, I need email. Thanks for the speedy response though. What sucks is I cant even de-certify this dam thing, the apps I have on my pc suck for that, and of course I can't use the Orange website method for obvious reasons. Seems like it's high timw for a new phone, orange just lost my faith since I haven't had this phone 6 months, plus the Treo 650 is looking better everyday.

Since I'm in the U.S., Bush got re-elected, and the phone is unlocked, I don't thnk I can send it in to Orange. So this really limits me :x

Well the rant is officially over. Thanks again!

Its ok, hope you can get it sorted, I hate it when things you rely on go horribly wrong all of a sudden.

Yea, well I guess this is it for my phone:( I will conduct services for it tomorrow. Where do I begin? It was a good phone, adored by many. Sure it had some flaws but what device doesn't? We are not here to judge or ridicule......only to mourn the passing of another phone.

Seriously though, this sucks. Unless anyone else has any suggestions, thanks for your response.

This is usually a network problem.

Have you tried the SIM in another phone ?

Thanks for he suggestion! I tried using an different sim card in my phone and the same problem persists. I havent tried mine in another phone because I don't know anyone else witha web enabled phone, much less a smartphone.

Thanks for your help though. Anyone else have any ideas?

This other SIM has it been GPRS enabled?

If it is on the same network try calling them as there could be

a local tranmitter down or being worked on.

Ok, here's what happened...I recently called T-Mo to get setup with a new plan because my contract recently expired. Nice people, anyways shortly after the guy enabled my new plan I reset my phone (due to unrelated reasons) and BAM! Everything worked fine.

Why? I have no idea, the second sim I tried was NOT T-Zones enabled but I didn't find that out till after the fact. I thought the "G" icon should appear regardless, but that showed my ignorance. So now everything is peachy though I must admit I was on my way to a Nokia 6600, or T-Mo Sidekick but NAY! My E200 works fine!

Funny though I was thinking to sell this anyway and get a C500, which I probably will do anyway. I think it may have had something to do with T-Mo's service being down, I never thought to check to be honest. Thanks for everyone's help, much appreciated.

I often have this problem with my E200, either the GPRS doesn't work at all and access to web sites hang, or if it does work but certain sites such as Orange's Your Page don't recognize my phone.

For me I access the Quicklist by long pressing the home key, and select "Detach GPRS", reboot the phone, and after a short while everything works normally again.
