Guest seaninca Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 I just got my first smart phone, SMT 5600, 5 days ago. I start to get the hang of it little by little. Do you know if there is a software to do the following? The wireless phone provider has the current time at the particular location on the radio signal. My old Nokia 6200 was able to synchronize its clock to the provider's time. For example, set the time of Nokia 6200 to 9:00 when it was 14:00. Then, turn off the power. Next time the phone was turned on, the time was synchronized to the provider's or the correct time. I would like to do the same thing with the SMT 5600. I don't think SMT 5600 came with such capability. What do you think? Thanks for the help.
Guest squall Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Im afraid i havent seen this before, not sure its possible either sorry
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 The phone is designed to syncronise the time with your PC rather than your operator.
Guest seaninca Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Well, it makes sense. Without Active Sync, it is difficult to use 100% of the phone. However, I travel and cross the time zones a lot. It was nice to have the time changed automatically. Thanks.
Guest squall Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 you could have a look at fizz traveller http://www.fizzsoftware.com/

I used to have a Palm Pilot Phone with Sprint that did automatially set the time based on the carrier's time and current location. This presents a problem with the calendar. If I book a lunch appt. at noon, the appt is at noon wherever I am. If I go from Chicago to LA and change the timezone on my phone manually, then the appt time changes to 10AM. This doesn't make any sense.
