Guest rclark Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Where the heck does the DNS come from?!?! Here's my situation: -When I connect my smartphone to my pc using a usb cable and surf the net, my DNS settings come from the LAN adapter I have in the PC. I know this because I've done this with NO GPRS settings in the smartphone. -When I connect my smartphone to my pc via the bluetooth adapter and try to surf the net with NO GPRS settings in the phone, I am unable to surf the net. No names get resolved. I can access web sites directly by entering their ip address. -When I connect my smartphone to my pc via the bluetooth adapter and try to surf the net WITH GPRS settings in the phone, I can resolve only some sites. I use T-mobile in the US. I know my GPRS settings are correct because I can surf the net using strictly GPRS with no problems. I know I have some sort of DNS problem when linked to the pc using bluetooth. Where is my DNS problem? Help!
Guest rclark Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Correction... -When I connect my smartphone to my pc via the bluetooth adapter and try to surf the net WITH GPRS settings in the phone, I can resolve only some Seems like when I surf using GPRS and later visit those same sites via an activesync/bluetooth connection, those same sites will work. Any new sites won't work. Seems like that DNS data gets cached in volatile memory. If I reset the phone and do an activesync/bluetooth connect to surf those same sites, those names won't get resolved. I've burned one to many brain cells just trying to get the bluetooth/activesync working properly 8-[ .... not sure how many I got left.
