Where the heck does the DNS come from?!?!

Here's my situation:

-When I connect my smartphone to my pc using a usb cable and surf the net, my DNS settings come from the LAN adapter I have in the PC. I know this because I've done this with NO GPRS settings in the smartphone.

-When I connect my smartphone to my pc via the bluetooth adapter and try to surf the net with NO GPRS settings in the phone, I am unable to surf the net. No names get resolved. I can access web sites directly by entering their ip address.

-When I connect my smartphone to my pc via the bluetooth adapter and try to surf the net WITH GPRS settings in the phone, I can resolve only some sites.

I use T-mobile in the US. I know my GPRS settings are correct because I can surf the net using strictly GPRS with no problems. I know I have some sort of DNS problem when linked to the pc using bluetooth. Where is my DNS problem? Help!

Correction...

Seems like when I surf using GPRS and later visit those same sites via an activesync/bluetooth connection, those same sites will work. Any new sites won't work. Seems like that DNS data gets cached in volatile memory. If I reset the phone and do an activesync/bluetooth connect to surf those same sites, those names won't get resolved.

I've burned one to many brain cells just trying to get the bluetooth/activesync working properly 8-[ .... not sure how many I got left.
