Guest grumpy_old_technobyte Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Who's had luck w/ 512Mb or 1Gb cards? Just curious to know. Id like to get a huge load of memory on the Audiov but Ive heard about the C500 leaking mem.
Guest rclark Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 I'm using the Audiovox SMT 5600 with a 512 card. No problems what so ever. Also had the audiovox flashed with the orange rom for a while with the 512 and had no problems either. I have yet to hear of a Typhoon owner who has tried a 1 gig card. I'm curious to know myself.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Ive heard about the C500 leaking mem. Leaking memory? The phone should be able to handle 1gb+ without a problem.
Guest NIGHTMARE Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Leaking memory?. that is/was due to a program not working correctly not the size of the mini sd card, i can also confirm that a 512 card works fine even though it is more like 480mb but that is not a phone issue, just annoying unit conversions.
Guest grumpy_old_technobyte Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 HTC products have been known to somehow leak unused memory, meaning the memory is still there but the phones resources hide it. Pwhooftman2 posted a topic of his C500 leaking mem. and I was to buy an SPV E200(really known for mem. loss) until I found out the 5600 wasnt going to be around for long. Placed order for 1Gb mini card, hope for the best!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 I've never seen or heard this before :? certainly never encountered it on any phone I have owned. EDIT Ahh I remember that post http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...=asc&highlight= The memory would certainly not be leaked but used in a process or some form of temporary file, as task manager did not resolve the problem.
Guest Exploited Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 As far as I've always understood it, the SPV C500 is technically able to support at least 2GB memory-cards. Even though these do not exist yet.

Why's that nightmare? 1Mb, 2Mb, 4Mb, 8Mb, 16Mb, 32Mb, 64Mb, 128Mb, 256Mb, 512Mb, 1Gb, 2Gb... Seems a very straightfoward progression to me :? What way does memory work that makes the natural progression jump from 1Gb to 8Gb, missing out 2 & 4Gb?

That is simply doubling memory, you are correct in that 2gb will be the next card out after 1gb. What i was getting at is the way the memory is managed is the same all the way up to 8gb, above that and the standards change and therefor if you phone can take 1gb it will probly take 2,4 and 8gb but i dought that current phones have been designed for future compatibility beyond that(after all phone companies want us buying the latest equipment  )
