Guest Oranges&lemons Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Hi Guys, I've just upgraded from a Nokia 7250 to an Orange SPV C500. I am totally impressed with it and love it to bits. However when my mate(moto V600) tried to send me either images or ringtones via bluetooth, the handsets greeted each other but said that this service was not supported. This totally jacked me off because the reason I upgraded was because I couldn't get the infrared port on my 7250 to work. Is this because Orange want people to use Media messaging or am I doing something wrong?? How can I get round this? Any help greatly appreciated.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Use the file manager to send the file, select MenuSendBeam. It will show IR but it will also search for devices to send to.
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 If you can't receive them it might just be that you have that feature turned off Try Settings-Beam-"Receive Beamed stuff" (probably NOT what they call it, but you'll see when you get there)
Guest Oranges&lemons Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Hi Chaps back again. I am almost sorted, now recieving files on bluetooth. Can also send contact details via bluetooth - but thats about it. I still can't transfer images from my phone. Looked into the following: [use the file manager to send the file, select MenuSendBeam. It will show IR but it will also Search for devices to send to. ] I can see where your going with this but when I'm in file manager I highlight the file, Menu/Send/Via email or infrared(i choose IR) then I've got choice of IR - Align or magnifying glass - searching i've tried highlighted both and pressing beam but to no avail. Where am i going wrong?!? Thanks for your help so far
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 Have you turned BT on? Also try bonding with the intended device first. Otherwise try Smart Explorer from www.binarys.com as it is more user friendly and my prefered file manager application
Guest Lojt Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 I have the same problem trying to send a file from my ipaq... It seems like there are no 'file transfer' service on the spv, like there are on most other bt devices.
Guest Oranges&lemons Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 Thanks chaps (awarner especially). Smart explorer has sorted it!! I now have BT transfer
