Guest McHale Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I point to this as my reference. I'm using the .342 FW that Best Buy is selling. But check out the camera examples in this thread. It's like a new camera! http://www.mpx200.org/index.php?name=PNphp...d336838f348ce30 Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.2.1.1088 (Build 14315.1.1.2) Radio Version 1.00 Rom Update Versions: Operator: 0.250.1003.0 Manufacturer: 1.30.0.0 Microsoft: 4.21.14315.0 Language: 0.150.0.0 File System: 4.21.14315.0 And as previously reported, Motorola will not distribute the FW update. It's by exchange or send in under warranty to update. From what it sounds like though, you call and Cingular ships a new phone and you ship your old one (as with the v600). -Mc
Guest midnight Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 ok, its a little bit better, but its still bad for a 1.3mp camera, and isnt that much different to be honest.
Guest McHale Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I have to greatly disagree here. The white walls are now white (instead of that wierd yellow). Also, don't forget, this is an indoor picture with no natural light. I haven't seen any camera phone take a brilliant picture in those conditions. If I can get my hands on the FW, I'll take some outdoor shots with it. I'm still on .342 so I don't have the benefit of taking some test shots. But I know the c500 isn't any better on indoor shots. I'm actually quite impressed with the camera now. The fixes in this latest FW seem to be what the phone needed. I don't use a BT headset yet so I haven't had any of the BT issues some people have complained about, but this supposedly fixes them. -Mc
Guest midnight Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 what about battery life, any improvement?
Guest McHale Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 no idea. With .342 (and with .325) I was getting at least 3 solid days with normal usage. I sync every day so I almost always have it fully charged. Remember, I'm still on .342 so I can't speak from experience on any version later than .342. I just got done redoing my homescreen and installing all my apps. I don't want to start all over again. I'm holding off for a while now before I go through all that. Hopefully, Motorola will come to their sences soon and let us download it. -Mc
Guest thongaxp Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 Hi, I'm new to this forum, and well just started posting today...so HI Well i have owned the 1.3 firmware for about 3 weeks now and let me just start off by saying... I LOVE THIS PHONE. Anyways, to answer your Qs, Battery Life - Current Power Settings: Check email every 15 minutes / Change wall paper every 15 minutes / Bluetooth on 24/7, I can get 2 days worth of usage...to let u know, I use my phone a lot. Since i have owned it I have put 40 hours worth of calls; both data and voice. So I use it a lot. If I keep bluetooth off and turn it on only when necessary I can get about 3 days outta it. But again, I use my phone a lot. Active Sync over bluetooth is what kills the battery life, but thats expected since it is a power consuming whore. If i keep bluetooth off in total, It seems that it will easily see 4 days without a charge. The battery meter doesn;t move when its not doing anything. Like if i charge the phone at night and unplug it before we go to sleep, I can wake up the next morning and the battery will still be at 100 percent, and keep in mind thats checking 3 email accounts every 15 minutes.... thats a lot of work with no power draw. Granted if i keep bluetooth connected to my active sync, then the power will be depleated to around 85%. (thats an estimate of the couple of times i actually checked) DAMN RANT...sorry =) Pictures: Pictures Look really good. I like them a lot, beats the hell out of my old phone in terms of quality. but i will let u decide for yourself. here are some pictures. and sorry, i don't type correctly, well u know with capitals and such, thats just cause i type really fast, and correct puncuation well, it kinda just slows me down...besides i usually have MS Word correct me. Anyways sorry about that last RANT, here are those pics http://www.antsllc.com/pete/DSC_00002.jpg http://www.antsllc.com/pete/DSC_00003.jpg i just threw two of them up there. as you can see they look terrific; atleast thats my opinion. the second one looks a lil blurry around his paws, but thats now where i was focusing. the settings used were : sunlight : 1280*960 : contrast 3 : max burst at 10 : bluetooth was off. So what do u think; well besides for possibly thinking that i am some sort of crack head, which i'm not... =)
Guest moto178 Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 I have the MPX 220 ver. 0.343 from ATT Wireless and the pictures don't look anything like that. Pictures are grainy, blurry, and usually one shade of color. They are all mostly dark as hell, and if you put it in "night" mode they have zero color in them. I thought the .343 was supposed to be comparable to the 1.30?? Doesn't seem that way. :)
