I am unable to autodisconnect a GPRSconnection (i-mate SP3i)

I have set up data connections to auto disconnect after 30 seconds of inactivity.

Using a standard GSM data connection (O2 UK) there is no problem and after a send/receive of email the phone disconnects automatically.

BUT, using a GPRS connection (O2 UK) everything works fine but the connection doesn't autodisconnect and the small G in the signal strength bar stays unless I press and hold the home key and manually disconnect the GPRS connection.

Pls help as I am sure this is affecting the battery life quite a bit and I find the battery life much less than other phones.

Otherwise the SP3 is a great phone.

It's a known bug, the Audiovox does the same thing apart from pressing

the home key does not give you the option to disconnect GPRS.

The only way to do this is to either power the phone offon or to turn use

Flight Mode off then on again.

Battery life should not be affected as the GPRS would only be in standby.

How long is your battery lasting?

Posted

Battery is lasting about one day with moderate use if the GPRS is connected and about two days if I am careful to disconnect the GPRS connection

Thank you for your response

Also, worth noting. The C500 has a feature not on 5600 but might be on Imate SP3/ SP3i. On the C500, when you hold down the END button, you get the option to either lock the keypad or end your current GPRS session. Try this and lets us ppl know of your findings!

On SP3i pressing and holding the END button directly locks the keypad (no options).

Pressing and holding the home key gives the option to disconnect the GPRS connection
