PocketSCUMM & SP3i...

Just a quick question;

Has anyone tried running PocketSCUMM on a SP3i (or equivalent - C500 for example)?

I'm using ver 0.5.1 (Smartphone compatible) and have tried running the CD versions of both Sam & Max, and Beneath a Steel Sky but get the same results.

The game will start up with both the graphics and sound working ok, but after a few seconds the video freezes and the sound continues - the sound will continue to play no problem, and after fiddling a bit I found that the input still works (I managed to try and pick up an object, to get the "I can't pick that up" dialogue (Sam & Max).

I also found that after the problem has occurred, if I hold either the home of back buttons (to bring up the GPRS quick menu), then press home, it would refresh the screen in PocketSCUMM (ie, I could see the characters/location etc), but couldn't actually switch back to the program.

I'm wondering if this is a hardware or software problem (does PocketSCUMM run on 2003 OS?), and rather than bug the author I thought I'd post here.

Any suggestions/comments?

I play Pocket Scumm (same version as you: 0.5.1 was the last Smartphone compatible version) on my E200 so, yes, it does work on WM2003.

The problem you're having sounds like something that happens very occasionally to me. The program seems to lose focus and part of the homescreen is displayed (just the softkey options and signal/battery indicator bar with the last Scumm screen frozen over most of the screen). This only seems to happen on my E200 when I don't do anything for a while and I can usually get Scumm back by using task manager (difficult when you can't see it!). Maybe the hardware of the HTC Typhoon exagerates the problem...

I am having the same problem on my 5600. I get 15 seconds in and it crashes.

I have a T-Mobile SDA, which basically is the same as the SP3I and have no problems with Pocket Scumm. In particular i tried Sam&Max disc version.

ps. The SDA, in contrary to the C500, has no GAPI bug.

The C500 GAPI bug was resolved in the recent update...

This probably isn't gonna help me, but it's a last resort at the moment;

_Tala_, do you think you could post your scummvm.ini file if it's not too much bother (maybe, just maybe there's a magical value that I'm missing!)

cheers

Thanks _Tala_

Didn't help, but it was worth a shot.

Which version are you using by the way?
