I placed files in my storage card under a folder named "My Documents" and I can't get it to show up when I try to set the ring tone under "Sounds". Can other sound be set besides ringer from the storage card? Like alarm, email notification, etc. Thanks.

You don't say whether you are using SP2002 or 2003, You should be able to put custom ringtones/sounds on your storage card, although I understand that ringtones assigned to contacts should be on the phone itself (ipsm). Are the custom sounds .wav files?

My phone is SMT5600.

File format doesn't matter if the file is place in storage/home/sounds. But I know that you can also place it on your storage card. Will it then only read .wav sounds?

I'm not familiar with your phone, but if you do a search there is loads of info on the subject.

I'm not 'a expert', but if the phone will recognise the format in ipsm (storage to you) then it should recognise it on the memory card

As standard custom ringtones cannot be placed on the storage card, to ge them to work you will

need to make alterations in the registry but that can lead to stabilitiey problems.

This was discussed about yesterday

Can we clarify the difference between 'custom ringtones' and 'ringtones assigned to contacts' ?? :?

When I said 'custom ringtones/sounds' I was referring to a sound that happens when the phone rings when an unknown caller rings you, I have the Rolling Stones - Paint It Black - (cut to camera 2) mmmm groovey! 8) .

But when m'Julie is fonin me I is earin da wikit souns of da Queen an Fat Bottomed Girlies innit - Ayeeee!

which is a 'ringtone assigned to a contact'.

Not wishing to diss a Mod but I stand by my statement that...

You should be able to put custom ringtones/sounds on your storage card, although I understand that ringtones assigned to contacts should be on the phone itself (ipsm)

without any instability or other problems.

[EDIT] - The poster's girlfriend has told the poster that he best make it bl**dy clear that she does not have a wide a*s* and is in no need of any weight loss, and that he is about to change the ringtone he has assigned to her within the next 10 nanno seconds or he is going to be able sing his own ringtones - all castrato!!!!! [/EDIT]

A custom ringtone is any ringtone that has been assigned to an individual contact.

A standard ringtone (one that can be placed on the storage card) is a ringtone that hase been

assigned in SettingsSounds

So as standard Custom ringtons cannot be assigned to the storage card.
