Guest grumpy_old_technobyte Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 Posted from my SmartPhone! why not leave it as HTC typhoon? My nokia 6610,ngage qd and moto v600 are sold by diff. operators and retain their manufacture name. whats up? audiovox, imate, orange,or qtek etc. didnt make it so why even bother adding names?
Guest bigmak Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 Maybe they want their specific and exclusive device with their own specific and exclusive features. Wether they work properly or not.

I don't get you, the phone's you have listed are all different hence each have their own names... unless you mean that you can get the 6610 on each network under the same name... I can kind of answer that one, there are companies out there (I work for one of them) that, although they consider themselves as delivering excellence in service or production, offer their service under a different company name. In effect they sell their services or expertise to the highest bidder. This is what HTC do. They are not interested in brand recognition, instead producing for whichever companies are willing to badge their product and bankroll them.
Guest jleecong Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 Nokia 6600 and 6620 6600 by T-Mo and 6620 by AT&T. Same phone, slightly different internals. Same scenario here.
Guest Pondrew Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 And I remember back in the day when the Nokia 3210 was big that the Orange version was the only one designated the Nokia 3210e...
Guest Confucious Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 Mine's called Fred - What's yours called?
Guest grumpy_old_technobyte Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 I remember my first HTC ppc phone edition sold under Tmobile this time last year. It was fine that Tmobile named it as their own. But why change the name? This just makes me wonder if Audiovox even manufactures anything at all or if they just buy devices and slap their tag on it then resell it. Ex- what if Orange C500 was named Orange Audiovox C500. It would be less confusing to name the Audiovox SMT 5600 a name simpler like AT&T SMT 5600. We all know its all HTC under the hood so what right does Audiovox got? Im beating a dead bush arent I? Ill go rest now, can you warm me some milk? PLZ
