Guest michhy Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 OK now that I got your attention  Please, i need help. I got only 2MB of free memory on my phone, but I got tonnes of free space on my SD card. I need to install a dictionary application called "LexSP". The CAB file is 9MB, and the installation needs around 10MB. Now, i copied the 9MB CAN into my SD card, launch it to install. When prompted, I select "install to SD card". However, the installation always fails, because there isnt enough free memory on my device! WTF is wrong? Please can someone help me out? My PocketPC doesnt do this stupid mistake. Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance 2mb of free storage on your phone is much to low. as the application your installing also use the space on your phone for temp files. try to delete unused files on your phone to free up space. and also install almost all your apps on your sd card. and also dont forget to delete sent sms. and occasionally delete the call history list. cheers
Guest michhy Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Thanks for your advise. Yes, I do clear those old msg and call logs every week. But my mpx200, even after a hard reset, the total free memory (RAM) is only around 5MB. So what can I do? Is there anyway/workarounds I can do to install this dictionary (CAB size 9MB) into my 512MB card? Is there a registry hack I can do to make the phone use the SD card instead of the internal RAM? p/s: do you guys also notice that the free RAM is actually the free FlashROM and not the internal RAM at all ? how weird!
Guest ronny Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 yes the only free space on the MPX200 is only around 5-6mb after a hard reset. first thing to do is to do a hard reset(remember to fully charge your battery first). then install all your apps including wav files and pictures on the sd card. then there would probably around 4-5mb of free space on your phone, that should be enought to install "lexsp" on your phone remember to install it also in your sd card.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Im assuming LexSP.CAB is the same LexSPSetup.cab of Lextionary. I tried it a while ago on my e100 and was able to install the CAB succesfully even with only 1.20MB of free IPSM Space (4 M of free Physical Memory).
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 @micchy I know this is rather off topic in relation to your query...have you tried Paragon SlovoEd Dictionary? http://smartphone-software.penreader.com/SlovoEd.htm You may consider it as a nice alternative.
Guest michhy Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 pzee, ok this is also off-topic, but how in the world did you get the title "sneaky moderator" ? lol thank you all for your inputs. so its weird, i should have more than enough RAM for the installation, since someone did it with only 1.2MB ??? weird!

Guest Tanko81 Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 maybe lexionary does not support your phones OS are you using WM2003? Its for my mpx220
Guest ronny Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Its for my mpx220 make sure that the lexionary you downloaded supports WM2003, and also make sure that your MPX220 is not Application Locked.
Guest michhy Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 i got hijacked! lol ok, back to the topic at hand. Lexionary is freeware, thats why I wanted it. Anyone knows if I can manually extract and install it into my mpx200 (wm2003) ? The CAB file contains stuff with names that dont make sense. thanks alll.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Lextionary is 'free to try before you buy' software... a trialware.
