Guest Cromagnet Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Hi there. I have Windows XP pro and ATT wireless SMT5600 using usb connection. I turned off activesync on the PC. On the phone I went into Modem Link and set the connection to USB, then clicked MENU activate. I downloaded and installed the driver for the modem. Now my PC network connections has 2 dial-up connections called att gprs using *99***1# and GPRS connection using *99***5# I tried changing the GPRS to *99# Anyway when I go to network connections on my PC and right-click one of them to connect... it tries but it gets... opening port Error: 690 No dial tone. I don't want to dial a number, I want to connect with GPRS. I must be missing something basic. Can anyone help? :?:
Guest BlackSea Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Verify your COM port. What USB adapter are you using? "Setting up the handset On the handset press Start, scroll to More... and press in the joystick Scroll to Settings and press in the joystick Scroll to Bluetooth and press in the joystick Scroll to Bluetooth and press in the joystick Highlight the Bluetooth field and press in the joystick. Scroll to Discoverable and press in the joystick Press Done three times Scroll to More... and press in the joystick Scroll to Configurations and press in the joystick Scroll to BT SerialPortSetup and press in the joystick Highlight Inbound COM port: and press in the joystick to check the field. Highlight Outbound COM port: and press in the joystick to check the field Press Done" Setting up the connection On the PC double click on the My Bluetooth Places icon. Click on View devices in range. Once the handset is found right click on the handset icon and click on Pair Device. A Bluetooth PIN Code Request window will launch and prompt for a Bluetooth PIN Code. Enter a PIN Code (example 1234), and then click on OK. On the handset will prompt to Add the device, press Yes to confirm. The handset will then prompt for a Passkey (enter the same PIN Code you entered on the PC), and then press Done . Return to the My Bluetooth Places folder and double click on the handset icon. Double click on the Dial-up Networking icon I obtain this info from support.attws.com
Guest Cromagnet Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 BlackSea: I think you are trying to show me how to link my computer to my phone using Bluetooth. I cannot do this because my computer does not have Bluetooth. I am trying to connect to the internet by using the gprs connection with my cellphone. Not by dialing an internet acces phone number like a regular line, but with the gprs connection that I already have on the cellphone. I should be able to do this, using the USB cable or the IRport.
Guest BlackSea Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 Go here http://support.attwireless.com/awswls/supp...pport/index.jsp in search field, type "Creating a Dial-Up Networking Connection for Windows XP via USB Cable"
Guest Cromagnet Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 BlackSea: You da man!! Thanks a ton! I am sending this with the gprs connection on my SMT5600. :D ;) Decent speed too!
