Guest michhy Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 I have searched the forum about "MIDI dont play on smartphone" problem, and someone suggested that the OS dont play MIDI format 1, so we should convert to MIDI format 0. I tried it using that converter program, but still, my MIDI playback is crap on my mpx200 (wm2003). What is wrong here? is it hardware limitation or software? I'm pissed that something this "smart" cant play a "dinosaur" file format properly!
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Does the 2003 OS for the MPx200 not play MID1 files ? The E200 (with 2003 OS) could play them and I'm pretty sure I had some ringtones taken from the MPx200 which played fine. I did attempt to convert some I'd downloaded to MID0 when I had the original SPV but, like you have found, they were unlistenable. I've given up with that format and now just stick to wavs. My guess is that the process of converting between formats is flawed.
Guest michhy Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 DiscoStu, Thanks for your reply. I guess I just needed the assurance that Smartphones dont do very well with MIDI files. Its a shame, coz MIDIs make great ringtones. FYI, the midi problem I'm having existed on my wm2002 original ROM (from motorola), still existed after I upgraded to a newer wm2002 ROM, and today, it still happens on wm2003. Same hardware though, but then, you had the same problem on the SPV, so it might be a windows problem? OK, I guess it'll be WAV from now on, lol.
Guest jasonic Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 i also gave up with midi, but started converting my tunes into wma format, now my ringtone sounds brill, a full playing truetone, definately gets the attention of the passers by
Guest michhy Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 OK, slightly off-topic, anyone got "voice" ringtones? I'm trying to find, but those that I found are too soft. Or maybe, anyone knows of a freeware WAV editor software, where I can increase the volume of the entire WAV file?
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 @micchy Freeware wav editor? Try Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Another wav editor you may want to play with is Goldwave. A fully functional evaluation version is available for download, visit their website: www.goldwave.com
