Guest Pulse Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Only just picked it up, but just wondering some stuff... My keypad is quite... Tacky? You can see the joins behind the keys... if that's easy to understand what I mean? Like each side they have plastic bits to hold the button in place. Also, my 2 button sticks down, not in normal use, but if i push it downwards, it gets stuck. Also, my hang up button is wonky. Normal? It seems to be too far over to the left at the top, leaving a gap on the right hand side, and nothing on the left. I think that's about it for now... Apart from I'm just using it straight from the box.. Shouldn't matter too much about charging normal time should it? Because of the type of battery. Cheers
Guest olly_k Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 I (sort of) know what you mean, you can see the bendy strips holding the buttons, at least on the lower two rows anyway but this doesn't bother me that much.... As for the wonky key non of mine are at all wonky. However I am concerned that after only having my phone for 8 weeks or so the silver paint is just starting to rub off the navi key.... not very clever for somthing so young and definately not hammered!
Guest Pulse Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Hmm, anyone know about the 2 button thing? If you move it down with your finger, it gets stuck.
Guest Pulse Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Also, the battery cover seems just the slightest bit loose. Normal? Guess I'm being picky...
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 You've got a duff one there, I think My keypad is fine - no "tabs" showing, no sticky keys - and my battery cover is snug You sure you haven't drop it already? I'd take it back and get it swapped. If you got it from a store you might be able to swap it for another one if they have stock. If you got it from the internet the supplier might swap it, but if they won't (and if you're in the UK, and it's less than 14 days since you bought it) you can return it and cancel your contract (you still have to pay any airtime bills for what you've used) and then just order another one.
Guest Pulse Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 Got it from the Orange shop, so I guess I'll take it back.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 Same here I have none of the problems you are discribing.
Guest Pulse Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 I've had a replacement today, and now have a few more niggles with the new one. Keys seem ok now, except the middle buttons seem more indented than the left and right. Anyone else got this, or should I take it back? Also, the battery cover is STILL the same. It has roughly 1mm of travel. Should it not move AT ALL? Coz the shop person's phone was the same (well, worse in fact).. But when im using the keypad, i can feel the battery cover moving in and out. Normal? Doesnt seem it! Also, my IR port isnt on straight. Oh, and the screen seems kinda high... Like holding it dead on, I cant quite see the top of the square that the G symbol is in. Also, my scroller seems higher than it should be... Is all this adding up to taking it back?
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 I think I would. Sounds like a bad batch. My keypad is nicely arched from left to right. The battery cover should clip in tightly. The scroller is quite prominent anyway.
Guest Pulse Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 How do you mean 'arched'? Also, what do you mean by 'prominent'? Battery cover should be perfect then? No movement whatsoever?
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 'Arched' as in left & right-sided buttons are slightly below the middle ones so that there's a very gentle curve when you look over the phone from the end. The tip of the scroller is about 3mm higher than the horizontal key above it. Battery cover is tight - no movement.
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 No movement at all on my battery cover. My keys are all about 1mm above the face of the phone, with the scroller being another 2mm above that. I've got 1 or 2 pixels visible above the G on the signal meter. 2 i think, but my eyesight isn't that sharp. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Pulse Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 Should I just give up then? If it's a bad batch, I'm not going to get a good one from that Orange shop, am I?
Guest Pulse Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 Going a bit off topic, but if I get a refund tomorrow, what other options do I have? I want MP3 player and camera/video on it. Has to be PAYG too. Oh, and has to be easy to use (as in transfer MP3s to the phone, and photos/videos on the phone to the PC)... I know I'm asking about non-smartphone, but this is annoying me a bit.
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I think the onus is on the Orange shop to get you a properly-built C500. You know you won't get a better phone.
