got my spv c500 today from my local shop after months of harassing them!

i am so very pleased with it, although clearly its gonna take some time to get used to the different phone shape and the way the keys work in texting and stuff, but overall im quite pleased!

was just wondering.

i cant seem to get the screen to go off anymore - yknow when you dont use it or something, the screen goes black? i dont know why this is - i have copied over and played some music files in the media player, but find no way of closing the music files, as i think this is it.

also, does anyone know where i can get a clear case for this phone - its a beauty indeed, but im very clumsy, so reallly need some assurance that when i drop it, less will happen to its exterior!

thank you all for replying, and now that ive got it, im sure ill be able to find the answers to everything here! (PS the sync-thing does not work with the supplied outlook , dont know whats up, so stopped using it, any ideas anyone - says there are things to be resolved, although i can see the phone in explorer and copy over stuff just perfectly - quite perplexing!)

anyhow, its a great phone, i seem to love it - not used bluetooth headset yet - gonna get the one people on here have been harking on about!

thanks,

Welcome to the C500!

First thing, about the screen going blank, that has happened to me before a few times. If you reboot it's fine, but if it keeps happening I'd ring Orange.

To close music files, or any software really you'll need the task manager, in the accessories folder I believe. That'll let you close any running applications. Or there is a much better free task manager - just click the words.

Don't quite know about the activesync problem. If you click the search function in the top menu you'll be able to get the answers to most questions. It might take you a while as activesync problems are fairly common & there'll be loads of posts about it. If you can't resolve items when synchronising you could always try deleting the current partnership & starting again.

Em ... hope thats a little help anyway. & don't panic, if anything goes wrong there'll be someone or something here who can help fix it.

yep. just to add my 2p worth. i think the items to resolve thing you are talking about is simply that you have conflicting entries in outlook and your phone - for example maybe you edited a contact or an appointment on the phone and the same one in outlook. if so, just click on resolve items, and choose the version of the contact/appointment you want to keep.

I had the same problem with Outlook and syncronising. I found out for some reason Outlook 2002 wasn't installing properly. So I tried uninstalling outlook express from the add/remove windows components, then installed Outlook 2002, and reinstalled ActiveSync. It now all works fine.

The other problem with ActiveSync is if you've restored your contacts from Orange Backup it won't work....
