The reception on the 220 is far better than my 200, and, that is a major plus, because my 200 was becoming unusable on T-Mo in USA.

However, these minor changes frustrate me to no end:

1) The 220 didn't come with a cradle like my 200 did

2) They've changed the connection for the wall plug/ pc sync. On the 200, it was a standard USB cable... so you could use any USB cable with the right end on it. The 220 uses a propreitary connection, so, you can't use just any cable, and, I can't use my 200 cradle. I hate Motorola for this!

3) Move to mini-SD, now I can't use my SD card from my 200. This was another stupid change implemented to bilk more money out of us.

4) No SIM Manager. What the heck!?!? I can't import contacts to and from my SIM card. I can store new contacts to the SIM card, one at a time, or view the contacts on my sim card. BUT, you can't assign a photo to a contact on the SIM card, and you can't import the contacts form your sim card so you can then assign a photo to them. Why did the 200 have a SIM manager and not the 220?!?!?!

5) I don't think the external screen really needs to be in color.

6) The covers for the headphones and sd slot don't seem as good as those on the 200.

7) I really don't understand why the phone is bigger than the 220, but the screen is smaller.

8) It is lighter than the 200. To me, this makes it feel cheaper, and, I wonder why, if it is so light, could they not have compacted things a bit more and made it smaller? But, this may not be physically possible, perhaps they just used lighter (cheaper?) materials.

All in all, I think the functioning of the phone is better than the 200. BUT, I don't think it is designed as well. The 200 is much more aesthically pleasing than the 220, imho. I hate the hunchback antenna, but, if that is what makes it get better reception, then, I need it!!

The OS seems to run better than 2002 on the 200. However, since I can't use my SD card, I haven't been able to try a lot of the programs I had running on my 200.

Random thoughts in response.

The phone is a four bander, a world phone. More electronics packed in. I agree as to the 200 being more elegant, but I realize that is subjective. I also thought the change to the mini SD was curious, but then again the Audiovox people did use the mini too. Shape of things to come. Odd about the mini USB port, which is really an industry standard - the Audiovox 5600 uses it - fortunately any Mot or clone connectors and chargers will work well. Lack of cradle is a minor annoyance that took me about 3 minutes to get used to. My phone is not connected long enough to the PC to matter. Lighter is better. No, the external screen does not have to be in color, but it does not matter. And for the 2 nanoseconds it stays on, it won't use much power!

mini sd uses much less power than standard size sd cards (but not that much). so this would mean more stanby time.

I really thanks your answer. I heard that the mpx220 has to much bugs, so I better wait with my C500 (audiovox for you in america) a little bit more until motorola really solve the sound bug and the camera resolution.

Problem is motorola use too much compression in the software that control the camera.

One more thing, I really need the sim app to manage sim contacts.
