A few basic questions about Outlook email

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the forum and also new to my MS Smartphone (Orange spv c500).

I have a few questions regarding outlook email principles on the smartphone:

1). when I set up my ntlworld email a/c on the phone an 'NTL World' a/c appears on the messaging menu. Is this the account I use to send/receive emails? Or do I use Outlook?

2). I have tried to use the 'Outlook' a/c to send an email but the send/receive option is greyed out. Is this because the a/c is merely there to sync with my desktop? And the 'NTL World' a/c is there to send/receive when on the move?

3). When I do sync with my pc, the messages from the pc are put into the inbox of the 'Outlook' a/c on the phone - I was expecting them to go in the inbox of the 'NTL World' a/c. Again, is this merely because the 'Outlook' account is there to sync?

All in all, could the following be said to be true:

The Outlook a/c on the phone is like a pending tray, and when sync'd the PC's Outlook application does the work. The NTL World a/c is there if I want to send/receive email on the move.

Apologies if these are very basic quesions; but I thought I would just set up my email account in Outlook on the phone (without an extra account appearing) and use it as I do on my PC, and when I sync the two are updated with each others info.

Please let me know if I can clarify this matter any further.

Many thanks and kind regards

Welcome to the site

As you have seen you can syncronise Outlook on the PC with the phone but to be able to use the phone to recieve emails on your NTL

account you need to set it up in Outlook E-MailMenuOptionsAccount SetupMenuNew

You can select how much of the message you wish to download ie the first 1000bytes that way the main message is kept on the server for downloading in Outlook later.
