Activesync not connecting

Hello people, got myself a SPV C500 a couple of months ago & had no problems sync-ing(?) with the computer I had, unfortunately that computer has gone & I have bought myself a new one.

I tried using the disc that came with the phone to load activesync but it kept crashing so I just downloaded it from the Microsoft site now when I connect my C500 up it just connects & connects indefinitely & never finds the phone.

Has anyone come across this fault or know where I could be going wrong? I've tried hard resetting my phone then checking all my settings but still no joy.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

maybe your windows xp firewall settings prevents active sync from syncing to your phone. make sure that the "active sync application and active sync connection manager" box has check in your pc under control panel> windows firewall > exceptions.

I have this problem also and I do not use windows firewall, but have tried what you have said aswell. I have tried a hard reset, reinstalling office, reinstalling activesync, etc and nothing has helped. It is really starting to bug me because I did a hard reset and now I have lost all my contacts and the only way to re add them would be via activesync

Hello. I’m getting the same problem as above activesync will not connect.

I’ve granted access to active sync in the firewall settings.

The Orange data team level 3 cant fix the problem they said they will try to solve it and would I mind calling back later which is fine.

Do any of you people know how top solve this problem?

The gauntlet is laid.

Thanks.

I don’t know how much longer I can go on begging like this.

Last time, here I go.

I have a SPVc500

Activesync will not connect.

I have allowed access regarding the firewall and I installed activsync again in fact many times.

I've done a system restore on the PC and a hard reset on the phone checked for a virus formatted both my minisd cards.

The last thing to try is to install XP again but then it will take me about a week to get back to how I like it.

Please if anyone can inform me of something that might help, now really would be a good time.

ManyThanks.

Funny how computers do this to people isn't it? ;) Anyway...

It sounds like it's back to square 1 time:

1. Stop the firewall service completely - just to be sure. (Only a tremporary solution, of course.)

2. Are you sure the cable's working? Tried it on another device?

3. How about the USB port itself? Try moving the cable from one USB port to another. (BTW, if this works, it doesn't necessarily mean you have a USB problem - Xp can be a bit like that.)

4. Maybe try another USB device in the same USB port just to 100% sure it's working.

5. If you want to go a bit more mad, do a PC reg backup and delete all the USB stuff from Device Manager, reboot and let the PC find it all again. Sometimes does the trick for me.

6. If you can, try your phone in another PC just to check the phone's OK.

Sorry if this sounds like really basic stuff, but when weird problems like this happen, it's always best to check the basics.

Thanks for your reply but all has failed.

My next step is to reinstall XP.

Hi!

I have an i-mate SP3i and upto ~1 week ago it was syncing fine on USB with ActiveSync 3.8. I recently noticed that the phone wasn't syncing (calendar entries etc. were not being copied) although the phone did continue to charge off the USB (this is why it took so long to notice there was an issue, since the orange light came on).

I tried syncing it via IR (I use a laptop) and it sync's fine. But obviously this is more inconvenient and slooooow compared to the USB.

Any idea what could be causing this?

There was no software additions or system changes during this time. I'm running XP Pro with SP2 and Office 2003. I tried upgrading to ActiveSync 4.0 but it didn't make a difference.

Thanks!

I don’t believe this after no luck sorting out the activesync problem with Modaco, Orange and Microsoft working on the problem, Installing xp again seemed the right thing to do.

But now after booting from the CD I get, "INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing"

I have had no Games, Music or Films on my phone for over a week now.

I may have a solution to my problem everyone.

It took a very sweet Irish girl at Microsoft, whilst talking on the phone, to inform me that I had two free questions that I could ask. See: http://www.support.microsoft.com/oas/defau...d=3223&x=9&y=12

Every other call to Microsoft has ended after being told that I had to pay for tech help.

First thing tomorrow I’ll call them and then let you know what comes of it.

Would it not be quicker to reinstall XP anyway? Particularly as you've been having the problem for 2 weeks now. BTW, I'm curious to know what happened when you tried point 5 in my suggestions earlier?

I tried to install XP again with my legal copy and I get the following" INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, status 8192"

So I cant just reinstall XP that’s not an option at the moment.

5. If you want to go a bit more mad, do a PC reg backup and delete all the USB stuff from Device Manager, reboot and let the PC find it all again. Sometimes does the trick for me.

I didn’t back up the reg I don’t know how to but I did remove all of the USB stuff and it came back again but didn’t fix the problem.

I haven't had the time to get in touch with Microsoft and be at my computer so unless someone on the site has had a vision of what to do I'll be holding a very underused c500 for the time being.
